Sunbreaker sighed when she, for the fortieth time, walked into the cabin. Or, at least, what remained of it.
It turned out that having a, say, tiny alicorn… that could randomly turn into an actual mount-sized alicorn… tended to be rough on the tile. And walls. And furniture. And windows. And…
All in all, the place was in shambles. It wasn’t hers, though, so she didn’t care that much. That was what insurance was for!
“Is Adora back, yet?” Swiftwind asked.
“Not… yet,” Sunbreaker said. “It’s, errr, taking longer than I thought it would. But it IS running its course!” No it wasn’t. “And she’s fine. Really. It’s fading bit by bit.”
Swiftwind watched her for a few minutes… looking suspicious before… Giving a nod and shrugging. “Okay! I’m still a bit worried but, as you ARE my friend, I know you wouldn’t lie to me!”
Sunbreaker cringed and pulled out a small bucket of apples. “I got you some, uhhh, snacks! Your favorite?”
“Apples!” the tiny lil alicorn yelled, galloping forward.
Sunbreaker sighed and looked at the remains of the couch. Ugh… He was such a little trouble--
Her phone went off and she blinked, checking the message. Sayaka?
Sayaka texted Sunbreaker: Hi, Hinoiri. I have a favour to ask.
Sunbreaker glanced back at the clueless alicorn before texting back. He would be distracted for a while, anyway.
Sunbreaker texted Sayaka: Hm? Uhhhh. Sure. Wassup? I got a minute, but uhhhh, a bit out of town right now.
Sayaka texted Sunbreaker: Can I come pick up Swiftwind? Here they are in a bit of a frenzy about Sunbreaker having him, and seeing him again would calm them down.
Sunbreaker paled and glanced back at the slowly disappearing bucket of apples. Oh no. If Adora got a hold of him now…
Sunbreaker texted Sayaka: Wait, who? Adora?! Oh no. I don't think that's safe for him right now. She's uhhh... working some things out of her system.
Sayaka texted Sunbreaker: No, not Adora. The friends she has here, plus one from her home. They know you have done something to Adora, so they won't give him over to her.
Sunbreaker felt a moment of annoyance at the blame. This wasn’t HER fault. If Adora just paid more attention to what she ate… However. There was something very special in there. She liked Swiftwind. Really, she did. A lot. But you know what? It’d be nice to miss him a bit more and be around him a bit less. She had exams to study for. And he was a tad… well…
Sunbreaker texted Sayaka: I didn't do it, it was an accident! She just... wait. Friends from HER home? Who? Does Swiftwind know them? Where can I drop him off?
Sayaka texted Sunbreaker: Yes, Swiftwind does know them. And you can just drop him with me and I will take care of the rest. They are still getting used to Tokyo and I don't want to unsettle them.
Sunbreaker felt relief growing. Yesssssss. Freedom.
Sunbreaker texted Sayaka: Okay. If I leave him in your room, is Ula there? When would you get back to your room?
Sayaka texted Sunbreaker: Yes, you can leave him in my room and Ula will be there. I don't think I will be absent for more than a hour.
Sunbreaker texted Sayaka: Okay. Just one warning, though. He uhhh... sometimes grows to full horse size. Randomly. I think it's whenever Adora henshins.
Sayaka texted Sunbreaker: Perfect, thank you, Hinoiri. They will be really relieved.
Sunbreaker texted Sayaka: Also, he gets grouchy if he misses his daytime soaps. Also, he wants to stay up until midnight, but if you put on some warm milk and a few apple slices, he'll usually pass out by nine. Also, he loves it when you scritch right behind the wings. I have a list, I'll leave it with Ula.
Sayaka texted Sunbreaker: Uh, ok. Thank you.
Sunbreaker looked down at Swiftwind and gave a small little smile. “Hey, Swiftwind? I’ve got a surprise for you. A friend of mine says she knows some of your and Adora’s friends from your world.”
“Huh?” Swiftwind asked, head rising up. “From home?! Is it Glimmer? Bow?” Pause. “Not Catra, is it? She’s a friend but she’s also VERY much not in a good place right now. But they ARE part of the best friend’s squad!”
“Not sure,” Sunbreaker said, bending down by her knees. “It’s a surprise! But we’re gonna need to go and have you stay with another friend of mine for about an hour, okay? They’re all sparkle skirts aligned, though. If… you don’t mind, of course.”
Swiftwind spread his wings out dramatically, a bit of apple dripping from his mouth. “SWIFTWIND is always ready for a new adventure! Will you be okay without me to look out for you, though?”
Sunbreaker blinked and looked at the small, half eaten bucket of apples. And then the wrecked cabin. “I’ll manage, I promise,” she said before leaning forward to, gently, pick him up. “You’ll like her, she’s got a mermaid with her.”
“A mermaid? Like Mermista?” Swiftwind asked.
Sunbreaker blinked. Well. It was a better name than most she heard from that world. “Sure.”

Sunbreaker sighed when she teleported away from the dorm room. Good. Swiftwind was OUT of her hair. Now she just had to go meet up with Naru, get a new coffee machine and there was nothing else for her to worry about except for the exam. At least there wouldn’t be any more distractions for a while, certainly. She wondered what she should have for dinner…
Cornbread casserole sounded nice, admittedly.
