Usagi Tsukino has posed:
It's the spookiest evening of the year and as per tradition, Usagi Tsukino - or as she's known online, HopHopBunnychan aka Hopchan - has been 'bullied' into doing a Scream Stream. Her subscribers have been voting for the last two weeks on what terrible, awful scary game they're going to have her play, and thanks to her chat mods, she doesn't even actually know the game yet! She's going to find out soon!

When the camera turns on and the chat is allowed to start scrolling, this is what the camera shows:

EMPTINESS. DARKNESS. A LOOMING, TERRIBLE, NOTHINGNESS - and then a light comes on, distant and blurry, and Hopchan comes into view. She's wearing an orange t-shirt with a pumpkin on it and blue jeans, along with a pair of pink headphones with white bunny ears - one ear is flopped over, and the other stands upright. With the sight of her comes a little maneuvering and jostling, and she giggles into the microphone -

"Sorry guys, just a little last minute set up! The storm is crazy outside - I'm glad the windows got installed, or this place would have been like, totally soaked!"

A little more maneuvering, and more lights, and Hopchan holds one of those lights up, revealing that all the lighting is coming from flashlights.

"Thanks for joining my stream everyone! This is Hopchan, for the annual Scream Stream that I can't belove you guys made me do, coming to you live from our very special location: my fiance's place! It's not finished yet, so naturally we decided to stream from his unfinished apartment. For the scare factor! Don't worry, it's not haunted. We made sure of it."

Jadeite has posed:
IceIceBB: first time viewer here - super looking forward to seeing this stream! you come highly reccomended
IceIceBB: here's hoping the storm stays calm!

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: *animated sticker of a black cat sticking one leg up and licking itself*
Su_Miso_Sen: *Three glowing jack-o-lanterns in a row* GANBATTE!

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: Hihi Hopchan!
Malloween: So what's the game going to be?
Malloween: Oh you don't know either I just read the thing
Malloween: I CAN READ I SWEAR
Malloween: Maybe it will be something more interesting than just jumpscaring you? Here's hoping!

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
LeftUnsupervised: 50 50 now whether lightning hits the building, thanks for the currses icemallow

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: IceMallow? Did you just fuse me with IceIceBB? I didn't say anything to jinx it!

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Ohhhh. Ghosts? You have those?
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Does that mean there's going to be scary stories?
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Eh, a little lightning never hurt anybody.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: So, is this really just an excuse to cuddle with your boyfriend in the cold?

Jadeite has posed:
IceIceBB: well if it goes out. oh no. alone with your boyfriend in a dark apartment. wimk.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: You can do it Bun-chan!

MercuryInPrograde: Just don't stare at the shadows too much.

MercuryInPrograde: The mind tries to find familiar patterns in everything and that's why we often see faces where there aren't any.

MercuryInPrograde: Like that shadow of the wall behind you where the street lights are barely visible.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Do you want me to sit next to you and talk to the chat or be Octomask and just hug you the whole time?" Mask-chan asks Hop, coming into view above and behind her with a flashlight underlighting his face spookily. He puts a bowl of something down next to her, probably some kind of salty snack, and unfolds his own tiny laptop.

unmaskalive0807 has entered the chat.

Mask-chan puts his headphones on, too. "There are no ghosts here," he says firmly, leaning forward (offscreen a little) to squint at the chat. He adjusts his glasses under the headphones. "Like Hopchan said, we made sure. We got a miko in and everything. Hi everybody! Since last you saw me I've played more Stellaris and also started playing Hades... Mercury, don't. Jeez."

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: Oh nevermind that's Mask before he switched on the flashlight. Hi Mask!

Yaling Yao has posed:
VerdantPipa: Was hoping this would be my first Halloween outside. The weather is sad, and the cold just drains all the enthusiasm.

VerdantPipa: I had lots of fun at a scary hotel some weeks ago. First time I was there, but the statues actually moved there.

VerdantPipa: Didn't know you made your chat choose, I hope they gave a fun game.

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Hades? Staralis? Are either of those like pokemon?

GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Oh hey, it's the secret weapon guy!

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
LeftUnsupervised: hades is like pokemon except you collect deaths and snark instead of cute things

Jadeite has posed:
IceIceBB: @glimmersparkledazzle Hades is a greek myth themed roguelike, and I believe Stellaris is a space themed 4X, like Civilization but with more shenanigans?

Naru Osaka has posed:
CoffeeQueen: Wow, there's a done of people here!

CoffeeQueen: Gotta collect 'em all, Unsupervised!

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrn: Bunny-chan's popular! Also heyyyyy Bunny-chan! I'm almost terrified to ask what we're doing today.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Usagi skims the chat quickly, smiling brightly at everyone and waving as the scroll populates the screen. "That's right Malloween, I have no idea what the game of the night is! Probably not just jumpscares though, they did that last year."

Split screen opens, putting Hopchan and UnMaskAlive in a small bubble shaped like a cartoon bunny's head that floats off to the side, leaving the bulk of the viewing screen blank - until a large present enters the screen, dancing about.

"Mercurychan, LeftUnsupervised, don't tempt fate! Unmask-kun and I are already tempting fate by being together!" Mamoru is favored with a quick smile as she twists around. "Umm, sit next to me! I'll tell you if it's Octomask time, but maybe, this present here, that will reveal our fate... will be kind? Generous? Nice?"

There's literally no hope of that, but it springs eternal anyway! The mouse pointer moves to the present and clicks, causing the animated present to spin, all four sides collapsing out as a light shines on the screen. When it clears, the name of the game is revealed:

SILENT HILL

There's a beat of silence from Hopchan, as she moves her mouse to click on the title, causing the game to begin loading, the title screen appearing for everyone...

"Everyone, it was so nice knowing you, and enjoying all your support, because it looks like I'm going to die."

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Ohhhh. I've collected enough deaths and already have all the snark I'm told. :P Space? Ohhhh! Like, rockets and other planets and moons and stuff? Like stars?
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Silent hill? Oh, that sounds so peaceful!

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: Apologies. Obligatory HHBChan trolling.

Su_Miso_Sen: *Shortclip in Stream played of HopHopBunny in Call of Duty Coming around a corner and getting sniped, and she yells "Su_Miso_Sen!"

Su_Miso_Sen: *Shortclip in Stream played of HopHopBunny in Call of Duty breaching a room and taking out two players before getting shot through a window. She yells "Su_MISO_SEN!"

Su_Miso_Sen: *Shortclip in Stream played of HopHopBunny in Call of Duty peeking around a corner once, twice, and then a third time and getting headshot. Angryvoice, "SU_MISO_SEEEEEEEEEN!!!!!!"*

Su_Miso_Sen: *GIF of the smallest character model in Call of Duty in a ghillie suit with a .50 caliber sniper rifle bowing to the screen, with the word 'SUMIMASEN' under it in dark blue.*

Jadeite has posed:
IceIceBB: Dibs on Frosslass
IceIceBB: oh sweet silent hill! which one is it?
IceIceBB: the good news is that it's more about puzzles and exploration than combat!
IceIceBB: bad news i will not get my one wish, of you sniping pyramid head at 50 paces

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: Hades also has cute Greek themed anime boys, like Zagreus and Chaos-kun.

Yaling Yao has posed:
VerdantPipa: Spacefaring sounds fun. I would like to see every corner of it, especially if there are hidden secrets!

VerdantPipa: Hang in there, HopHop-chan! You can do it.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: SISTER. WE GO TOGETHER. o7 My roommate wanted to watch the movie one night and I just couldn't, so this is gonna be... ..... ...fuuuuun?

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: Sorry I was getting a sandwich and drink. I'm ready! What's Silent Hill?

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: Hey hey Mask! Stellaris huh? What've you been playing? I got to play a little with the new DLC recently. I tried a Commonwealth of Man run but my heart just wasn't in it and I ended up reforming them to be slightly less awful. I think I'll try a Worker Co-op with the cybernetics civic next.
Malloween: @VerdantPipa: Yeah I was really hoping we'd get to do trick-or-treating on campus but the storm is ruining it! Ugh >:|X Hopefully people will organize some kind of rainchck
Malloween: *raincheck
Malloween: @GlimmerSparkleDazzle Stellaris is a Grand Strategy game where you play an interstellar space empire spreading across the galaxy and interacting with other empires and aliens and stuff. You can do a lot of sci-fi tropes and see how they play out. Or just try to make the entire galaxy be run *your* way.

Mallowen: Oh dang you know I've never actually played Silent Hill? I'm a bad gamer, I know u_u
Malloween: I never actually got into Resdient Evil either. I played the demo disc once and the controls were /so awful/
Malloween: My uncle has a lot of old games.

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: Silent Hill is the pioneer of horror games as we know them. Moody. Atmospheric. Deliberate in their pacing. And meant to always make the player feel unsettled, even if they've played it a dozen times.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Oh my god, even I know that's supposed to be over the top," Unmask says, wincing as he looks over Hop's shoulder. He glances at the chat again, then sits down next to Hop and reeeeaches offscreen again, and there's the sound of a popping open can.

"Puzzles and exploration? Okay but then why is it scary if it's just puzzles?" he asks, sounding mildly offended and looking slightly miffed, like he's expecting wisdom from the chat.

"Aw you guys are so nice to Hop. Except for when you're apparently wishing death on her as a group..." He takes a sip of his can, it looks like coffee. It's probably coffee. "Malloween, I think I friended you on the platform last time? Tag me there, this is Bunbun's stream. In the meantime, tag VerdantPipa, they seem to be interested too." He seems to have forgotten he entered the chat. If he's getting any PMs he's absolutely missing them.

"You are all correct about Hades though. I like Zagreus a lot. He's hilarious. And swole."

Naru Osaka has posed:
CoffeeQueen: I dont know Silent Hill either. But it sounds like it's going to be a helluva stream, if what Miso_sen is saying is true! Hang in there Hopchan! No dying!

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: I did a quick woogle search but thank you for the breakdown as well @Malloween.
MercuryInPrograde: I'd like to know what Zagreus GPA would have been. If he's smart as well as dedicated to his family, that just makes him extra extra cute!

ChatScratchFever: Wow they're not pulling their punches with you, Hop-chan. If you need any walkthrough help I've played it a few times. I'd be happy to help when I'm not distracted by my Coffee. <3

Jadeite has posed:
IceIceBB: they are spooky puzzles and exploration! sometimes because monsters chase you during them. sometimes because there are janky boss fights. and sometimes because the puzzle requires you to reach into a dirty toilet. EXTREMELY terrifying.

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
LeftUnsupervised: 'swole' he is about 1/8 the size of most mobs
LeftUnsupervised: you're just happy he has your build, short one
LeftUnsupervised: @IceIceBB ... what

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: THEY MAKE YOU REACH INTO A TOILET?! WHAT KIND OF HILL IS IT?!
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: I'd be screaming, not SILENT!

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: NO SPOILERS. *gif of angry redhead anime girl with a 100k hammer on it that says 'BAN!' slamming it down on the channel and then going -POOF!-*

Jadeite has posed:
We don't know if this is the one with the toilet! There's like eight silent hill games! ;w;

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"Okay, I see this coming up int he chat - this is apparently Silent Hill the original version! It's a classic horror game with puzzles and monsters and older graphics that still look pretty good, I have to admit, and most importantly, it's supposed to be super scary and everyone who voted for this hates me personally. I'm going to load the opening now..."

And so the opening theme begins to play, showcasing characters in a desaturated setting, the colors fairly washed out, and yes, the graphics are old and far from hyper-detailed, but everything can be understood visually.

"The fact that it's raining and thundering and storming outside is not helpin-" just then, a crack of lightning brightens the room, showing off Hopchan and Unmask sitting close together in a completely empty apartment, not even any furniture - just fixtures and walls and flooring, for a split second.

Of course Hopchan screams.

"That doesn't count for the scream counter!!! It wasn't even the game!"

Because, in the top corner of the screen, is a 'scream counter'. In spite of what she's just said, it now reads 001.

"I've heard this game has monsters and cults and doom and so... I guess we're all going to find out why it's so scary together..."

The game proceeds to open with a dark screen, and then there's a young woman in the center of the screen, leaning against a door frame. A trail of blood drips down her face as she moves from the door, followed by a trail of blood from her nose, both falling down her face and neck. As she stumbles forward, blood flows rapidly from the top of her head, until her entire face is covered in blood as she collapses to her knees, still struggling towards the viewer, whimpering.

The screen goes black. The words the fear of blood tends to create fear for the flesh. fill the screen, followed by the black and white image of another young woman, as eerie music begins to play.

"Oh, fuck me," Hopchan whimpers.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: ...OKAY WOW THEY REALLY DON'T BELIEVE IN PACING DO THEY. T^T Guys if anyone within five miles of me hears a scream... Don't worry, it's just me.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: Oh wait am I supposed to be in character for this bit
Malloween: Like I was gonna maybe try streaming later myself and I have lore and stuff but it's probably not the place to complicate this stream especially when I haven't actually done any streams yet
Malloween: @VerdantPipa yeah search me on platform I will gladly play Stellaris with you and Mask sometime
Malloween: @Mercury who is Zagreus?
Malloween: OH FROM HADES
Malloween: Maybe I should play that one dayt
Malloween: All I know about Silent Hill is that there was a hole here but it's gone now. And oh I mean ok no spoilers so I won't say his name but I've seen the spooky monster guy although I dunno what his deal actually is.

Malloween: Huh I haven't seen an intro like this in ages I can't tell if it's a trailer for the story or if it's showing us what's happening right before it?

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: <<A counter is added to the chat that now says *Swear Counter: 1*>>

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: I... I didn't scream. It's just lightning. Seriously, though. This game sounds grosser than scary.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Seriously, why is the weather so nasty here?

Jadeite has posed:
IceIceBB: oh boy oh boy oh boy its the original
IceIceBB: havent played it, have seen some of it, have heard about its artistic influence
IceIceBB: @Malloween my cousin had a lot of old games like this, the opening movie was usually a preview of what was to come!
IceIceBB: the screm bnnuy has scrumpt this day

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: You're right @LeftUnspervised he does have a similar build. Mask would you cosplay as Zagreus? Oh @Left could be Dionysus with his build and hair!

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: If you want to update the Scream Counter, the Swear Counter, or the Slurp Counter, you can add to it by typing in chat !screamcount !swearcount !slurpcount

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
LeftUnsupervised: @Malloween its definitely showing us some weirdly jointed necks anyway

LeftUnsupervised: @GlimmerSparkleDazzle typhoon season

(Apparently he is making fun of anything except the actual screaming.)

Jadeite has posed:
IceIceBB: i undersetand screm and swer, but what is... slurp....

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: ...Do I want to know why there is a Slurp Counter? It feels like I don't want to know why there is a Slurp Counter.

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: *Shortclip played of HopHopBunnyChan taking a drink too close to the mic and there's an audible -SLUUUUUUURP-*

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: *Sends HYDRATE OR DIE-DRATE sticker* *slrp emote of chugging on drink*

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
He knows. Mamoru knows that Usagi being scared is exactly how Sailor Eclipse happened in the first place. But the scream at the lightning has him looking away from the screen, away from the light, so nobody can see him trying not to laugh.

"Hey is the Sumimasentai Squad over there your new chat mod?" Mask asks Hop after he's got his face under control. And then he makes the mistake of scrolling up. "Nobody's gonna judge you guys for screaming," he says, "except the guy calling me short. I hope he screams. And I will judge him either way. And no, Mercury, Left would be Ares with his build and hair."

He slides closer to Hop and sets his laptop down on the floor in front of his knee, then slurps his coffee too close to the mic on purpose.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: Yes but Ares has too much armor on. I thought you'd like seeing his chest better.

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: <<A counter is added to the chat that now says *Slurp Counter: 1*>>

Yaling Yao has posed:
VerdantPipa: @MalloweenWe could organise something ourselves if nobody does!

@GlimmerSparkleDazzle. The atmospheric silence is probably the point. The toilet is more gross than scary, though.

@Malloween @unmaskalive0807 Being tagged sounds cool, you can count on that!

VerdantPipa: Would be a first time for me at that game, but I will keep up!

VerdantPipa: They are really going all out right off the bat.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"Don't swear everyone, it's a very bad habit, and your friendly neighborhood Bunny doesn't want you to do it," Hopchan says, as the swear count updates.

The opening cutscene continues to play - the camera zooms in on the black and white photo, before transitioning to a man and woman, in a strange forest of leaf-less trees. The man is kneeling over an object, and as he stands, lifts a swaddled infant, which he cradles. The woman and man lean in.

"Did. Did they just find a baby in a creepy field?"

The screen transitions to a young in a dress, approaching a mailbox by a house with a fenced porch. The area is foggy. More scenes from the opening theme played earlier begin to play, and then, it shows the man from the beginning, with the young girl in his car. A motorcyclist speeds by -

"Oh boy, that reminds me of someone I know," Hopchan says, voice nervous, and then she glances at the chat -

"You try talking to people for as long as a stream is and never forget to move away from the mic!"

But she doesn't sound annoyed, just accepting that this is her due.

"My emergency mod! And a friend who has wayyyyy too much fun with his job," she pouts, mostly for the camera, "I never played Hades, someone tell me who I should cosplay! And this game is way - uh oh look the motorcyclist is gone now."

And indeed, in the cutscene, the motorcycle is now on it's side lying on the road. More images flash - and then a woman is crossing the road, the driver swerves, and Hopchan says, "You guys did not warn us about car crashes!" As the brakes screech and the screen goes white and then dark. Then, the graphics change as it switches to gameplay, and the man gets out of his car. He's crashed through a gate and is completely alone. White text fills the bottom of the screen. 'Cheryl. Where are you?'

"So we lost our Cheryl in the crash and now we're in a spooky town full of mist..."

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: ibuawgvdr;d
MercuryInPrograde: Sorry bean bag incident.
MercuryInPrograde: You'd have to be Aphrodite, Bun-chan.

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Hey, some of my best friends were babies that were found abandoned, no judgement!
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Ohhhh, motorcycles. I've seen those, only rid on one once.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: See, this is why if you're going to crash, maintain consciousness. You never know what's going to happen otherwise when you wake up.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: Oh okay that makes sense.

BookWyrm: So is Cheryl the wife, or the baby, or...?

BookWyrm: ...The next time I'm in a car crash, I will absolutely remember to not get knocked out. That feels like something I would have control over at the time.

Naru Osaka has posed:
CoffeeQueen: I mean.. just don't ever get in a crash at all. That'll solve everything and make it a very short game.

Molly Skyline has posed:
GlitterGirl: Hey I just got here, what's going on?

GlitterGirl: Oh, you lost Cheryl? I've never played this game but losing Cheryl sounds like it's probably bad. Unless Cheryl was uhh... no swearing? Oh okay well I don't swear anyway, but unless Cheryl was a totally counterproductive dweeb then I'm sure losing her is bad.

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: I've stayed conscious in all the crashes I was apart of.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Not getting into crashes seems like unreasonable expectations.

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: *Animated gif of the infamous Truck-Kun from several anime, lights bright, driving right at the screen and then white*

Jadeite has posed:
IceIceBaby: Cheryl is the baby! now the teen
IceIceBaby: it's less than ideal that the father lost his seven year old daughter after the crash, yes

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: If people are cosplaying Hades characters I guess I need to play that game. And the sequel.
Malloween: I've never been on a motorcycle
Malloween: I mean I've not been knocked out by any car crashes but they were all pretty minor
Malloween: * I move away from the mic to breathe *
Malloween: Okay I never actually saw that meme either just a reference to it
Malloween: I'm so lost I've lost track of the story already how were all of those connected
Malloween: Yeah see Glimmer gets it
Malloween: Wait why were YOU in car crashes
Malloween: Regularly?!

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
LeftUnsupervised: @MercuryInPrograde cosplay implies a costume implies clothes please
LeftUnsupervised: maybe the girlfriend
LeftUnsupervised: is there enough hairspray in tokyo to make hopchan megaera

(Out loud, somewhere else: "Tamaki, are you trying to get booted off the chat? ... granted, we might need someone to go up there, but let's see if he needs it first or not.")

Molly Skyline has posed:
GlitterGirl: @IceIceBaby Oh well now I feel like a totally horrible person
GlitterGirl: Okay so hopefully nothing else bad happens.
GlitterGirl: Well for like the next five minutes.
GlitterGirl: Well, I mean it will, this looks like it's literally bad things the game, Lol
GlitterGirl: So like... ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: @GlitterGirl Bunny-chan is playing Silent Hill, and we're here to watch her nerves probably get ruined, if the first thirty seconds are any indicator.

BookWyrm: Hey @HopHopBunnychan before we -- I mean you -- I mean let's be honest we -- start hyperventilating, can we see the ring? I missed the stream when you got it!

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: They weren't car crashes!
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Usually boats. Or the ship that one time. A few times on purpose.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: We set it on fire. *Sparkle eyes gif.*

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: @GlimmerSparkleDazzle: What do you mean ON PURPOSE?!
Malloween: A FEW TIMES?!?!?!

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: I mean, it wasn't OUR stuff we crashed. Oh, and that tank that one time.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: That definitely wasn't ours, though.

Yaling Yao has posed:
VerdantPipa: @GlimmerSparkleDazzle Why are you getting into so many crashes? Are you doing ok?

Verdant Pipa: Don't think it will be a happy reunion when the guy and Cheril find each other again.

@Su_Miso_Sen I think Silent Hill people would be glad to have a visit from the truck by the end of it.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"Is Aphrodite cute? I'd be Aphrodite! She's like, love right? I know I've heard that before."

On the screen, Hopchan navigates the player character into running through the environment, looking through as many places as possible. As she enters one area, the camera transitions to a closer up shot of the man, and he runs. It transitions to a shot of the girl from the opening, by the mailbox, and she moves into the mist.

Voice acting begins, with the man asking, if that's his daughter, before she disappears.

"Okay, so it seems like Cheryl is our daughter, the baby we found, and it's not that being a found baby is a bad thing, obviously! But in a horror game, I think the fact that we adopted a baby in a creepy empty field and now we lost her is maybe, just a little, connected?"

They run through until they reach a gate, which reads, Beware of Dog.

"Please don't make me fight a dog," Hopchan sighs. Instead, the screen loads again, and on the other side of the gate, the player character steps forward into a mass of blood and flesh on the bottom of the screen. There's blood spattered all over the wall.

"I'M SORRY, I SHOULD HAVE ASKED TO FIGHT THE DOG!" She begins to navigate through a maze of increasingly tight corners and buildings, as the screen gets darker, and the player character pulls out a match. A squeaking wheel sound plays, and they find a crashed wheelchair, the wheels still spinning. Further along, they find a bed with a body, and a sheet covered body, with blood stains creeping through.

Hopchan whimpers audibly, and looks at the chat for support -

"Implies clothes?! Does that mean there aren't any clothes? Mercury-chan, what does that mean? LeftUnsupervised, am I being tricked into naughty cosplay? OMG, nobody clip that!"

She's trying to find solace from the increasingly terrifying imagery.

"Anyone else notice this took absolutely no time to get scary?"

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: @verdantPipa Yeah, I'm fine, just chilling on my hammock.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Oh, I'll bet the baby is the chosen one and some evil witch wants to raise her to be her evil princess but now she's gonna try and stop her, with magic.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Why would you cosplay without clothes? Isn't that basically just streaking and a crime here?
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Eh, it's not that scary.

Glimmer is watching the chat much, much more than the game.

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: She won't fight a dog in Silent Hill, but she caps every dog she sees in CoD.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Unmask chugs the last of his coffee away from the mic, then grins at Hopchan.

But then there's a literal car crash on the screen and he has a funny expression on his face for a moment, but it passes. "You're as cute as Artemis -- I mean the goddess not the cat, you're cuter than the cat -- so maybe you should cosplay her," and then he eyes the chat again and snorts. "Okay, fair. But only if you cosplay Thanatos."

He is breathing. In and out. It's fine. He doesn't need anyone to come rescue him.

"But yeah Aphrodite has long hair but it's the only thing she's wearing, basically..." he says hurriedly, leaning a little to bump Usagi's shoulder, then looking at the screen, then wishing he hadn't. "Man! Your subscribers really do hate you personally, what the fu-- I'm not adding to the swear counter--"

Jadeite has posed:
( "I didn't think it was a spoiler if we see a daughter and get asked about Cheryl!" Tamaki yells back to Kazuo. "Someone asked!" Ugh, he just wants to relax and help out in chat,,,, "But I can clamber up if we need to, let me know if you wan tme to hustle.")

IceIceBB: you've got this hopchan!!
IceIceBB: show that wheelchair who's boss!

Molly Skyline has posed:
GlitterGirl: Aphrodite isn't actually the goddess of love, she's the goddess of...
GlitterGirl: You know what nevermind.
GlitterGirl: @GlimmerSparkleDazzle I feel like you're talking from experince and that worries me.
GLitterGirl: Well yeah this got scary quickly, it's supposed to be a scary game, right? If it didn't get scary quickly that'd be like buying ice cream and waiting for it to get cold.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: I wouldn't do that to you Bun-chan! You would wear a bodysuit! I was just suggesting one for @unsupervised that is kind of like an open yakuta that fell off one shoulder.

Koji Silvia has posed:

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Awwww, capping dogs sounds fun! What kind of caps? I keep trying to get the dog guy around here to wear a baseball hat but he just glares at me.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: And, duh, why would I talk about something without experience in it? Like... experience is how you learn.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Well, and books, I guess. But those get boring fast.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Amy was this close to asking if Zagreus was from Slayers before remembering seeing a screenshot of Hades II that brought it up. And led to an internet discussion about Dionysus and Aphrodite's costumes and wait wasn't Aphrodite-- yeah.

Malloween: Oh so the intro was umpteen years before the story

Malloween: CAN YOU PET THE DOG???

Malloween: Oh I guess you are not getting to pet the dog
Malloween: I mean it *is* a horror game isn't it supposed to be scary? I dunno if they did subtle horror in any popular games back then
Malloween: Oh wait didn't Beyond Good & Evil pretend to delete your saves
Malloween: YOU CAP EVERY DOG?! WHY?!

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: Or wait was that Eternal Darkness I didn't play either of them
Malloween: I am not really a horror person

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: @LeftUnsupervised somehow I doubt very much that 'getting worse' is something they'll need a running start to reach.
BookWyrm: Is any one else really starting to hate that weird ringing noise yet?

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
There's a request from BookWyrm to see the ring before things get scary. It's too late for that. The game has no chill!

"I would love to take a ring break! Pay no attention to the sheet-covered body or the creepy abandoned wheelchair or the puddles of blood everywhere, nope, we are taking a minute to just go ahead and appreciate the beautiful ring that my loving and lovely fiancé got me -"

Yes, her voice is higher in pitch than it should be and tight with fear already! The atmosphere has her!

Her hand is shoved close to the camera, revealing a gold band, with a large pink-blue-green heart-shaped stone, surrounded by a row of three small diamonds atop and four small diamonds below.

"The jewels are all lab-grown, because it's better for people and also the environment," Hopchan says cheerfully, "It was purchased at Osa-P, a jewelry store over in Juuban Ward, that you should support if you have the funds! The heart-stone is a heart-cut opal."

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: It's on my to-play list! One of these days. I think when it came out my computer wasn't good enough and I don't have a PS5.
Malloween: Oh damn those are all synthetic? That's so cool!

VerdantPipa:Probably wandering the mist is the alternative, HopHop-chan.

VerdantPipa: Osa-P sounds cool! Having a look at the very least.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: I love that ring! Opals are *so pretty,* UnMask has *amazing* taste!

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: Anyone who has played Nier: Automata understands that you cannot really explain Nier: Automata. You simply tell other people they need to play Nier: Automata. Trust the process.

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Ohhhh, cool, what does it do?
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Also, geez, how bad is the weather over there? I think I can hear the rain from your microphone. And the wind.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: ... Wait, no, someone broke a window.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: Someone broke a window?! Are you OK?!
Malloween: ...You're not on a boat you're crashing RIGHT NOW, are you?

Jadeite has posed:
IceIceBB: you and UnMasked deserve each other. i'm really glad you're able to be happy together

Ami Mizuno has posed:

MercuryInPrograde: I hope you're all right! It is really stormy out tonight.

Molly Skyline has posed:
GlitterGirl: @Su_Miso_Sen Okay I'll put it on the list! I mean it looks like you get to be a cute chick with swords and whatever, what's not to like?

GlimmerSparkleDazzle: It's just one broken one down the hall, my coworkers are just grouchy.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: I can hear one of them howling at the moon right now.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Wait, you grow your gems here in labs? But they're so small.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"The dogs in Call of Duty are scary and also your job is to kill everything in Call of Duty, that's different!" She must defend herself.

"Thank you for the break from the scariness, BookWyrm! And okay, it seems like the desire for Aphdorite was more because I'd be a great Goddess of Love, which is sooo true haha, no one tell a certain someone I said that!"

Minako-chan, don't kill her!

"He got it on the first day we ever met. I was going to try and buy it, but he snatched it right out from under me. It turned out the store was the site of an outbreak of Juuban Flu, if you know you know, and he was protecting me even then."

Her eyes are practically heart shaped.

The hearts die as she progresses through the game, which shows more blood on the floors and on the metal gates, and then they come face to face with a bloody bandaged body, chest cavity cracked open, suspended to a wall like Jesus-san nailed on the cross, and Hopchan flinches back into Unmask.

What's going on here?! the player character asks, and then is attacked by strange red creatures with sharp claws.

"Oh no oh god they're getting me, I can't fight back, I don't have any weapons, aaaaaaah!!!"

Scream time! The screen goes dark, and then the man wakes up on a couch, with the lady cop from earlier in the cutscene standing over him. The screen is no longer dark and scary, and he's in an empty diner, with the cop.

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: !screamcounter

The on-screen 'Scream Counter' appears in a bloody-red horror font and updates to 'Scream Counter: 1'.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Funny story," says Unmask, sliding an arm around Hopchan's back and squeezing her lightly, hand touching her arm on the opposite side (and offering the refuge of that touch, just for a moment). "She--"

And then Usagi tells another version of the story, and he laughs. "I mean, she picked it, and I bought it out from under her the day we met. I was a real jerk, even *if* I was protecting her from Juuban Flu. In general I don't think relationships should start with 'I can fix him' but ours kind of did, didn't it?"

He blinks at the chat-- then looks in alarm at the screen and catches Hopchan, squishing her in a hug. "That was excessive," he says mildly, then kisses the top of her head.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: *Wow* okay even your meet-cutes are fairytale romances, what's your secret?

BookWyrm: ...@GlimmerSparkleDazzle That does not sound like a place people should be working a--

...

BookWyrm: ...Okay got my headphones back I threw them across the room was that *supposed* to happen? No Game Over?

BookWyrm: ...Is... is Game Never Over...?

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: Man it really is something that we still have power and internet in a storm like this! I remember back home when I was little hurricanes would knock the power out for days! Internet usually did stay up though
Malloween: Oh okay fair it's like killing the dogs in Quake
Malloween: Gods I can still hear their alert sound in my head, WOOF WOOF.

Malloween: Damn we're getting into some Psycho Pass shit here
Malloween: Oh you're ok huh is this like Doom when you die at the end of the first episode and then you're in Hell, are you in Hell now

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: !swearcounter

The on-screen Swear counter updates to: 2

Su_Miso_Sen: All swearing counts, chat. Screams too. If you screamed, update in chat.

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
LeftUnsupervised: @BookWyrm what did you think you were getting out of this that easy
LeftUnsupervised: also do you need earplugs under your headphones
LeftUnsupervised: @Malloween in hell for a while now

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Oh my gosh who cares if you don't have a weapon!
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: PUNCH THEM! That's why you have fists, you know! Punch something hard enough on the nose and it'll learn you aren't food! If that doesn't work, then you run away!
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Never heard of juubanned flu. Is it a food thing?
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Ohhh yes. 'I can fix them'. I had a friend like that, obsessed with this girl.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Just, utterly obsessed.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: And girl just did *nothing* but cause us problems (also a cause of a lot of the crashes).
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: She came around, though. Saved my life, even. And had the most adorable helmet.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: But my gawd she is still *such* a headache all the time. Like, I swear. Somedays I wanna grab her and shake her and if my friend didn't love her so much I'd... ugh. Probably owe her enough I couldn't do much but STILL.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: Wait are you counting my swears too?!
Malloween: Our swears.
Malloween: Our swearen.
Malloween: Oh the whole thing is in hell? Got it.
Malloween: @Glimmer there might not be punch controls

Jadeite has posed:
@BookWyrm games from teh 90s are built different
@GlimmerSparkleDazzle the combat controls in this series are really janky. hopchan CAN fight but it won't be easy

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: ... Punch controls? Wait, you can't PUNCH?
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: What kind of monster would make a game without PUNCHING?
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: What kind of person would PLAY a game like that?
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Ring boy! You should protect your future wife from games like that! They have no punching! That's just... wrong!

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: Wait this the 90s isn't it from the 200s
Malloween: IT WAS PS1 RIGHT gtvvkjtghjngv
Malloween: @Glimmer Punching is no good until she gets the Berserk Pack, it only does like 5 damage

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: @GlimmerSparkleDazzle A lot of games are made specific with no combat mechanics because it makes the world more interesting. There's a whole genre of games that are nothing but interactive novels. Some based on light novels.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: @LeftUnsupervised Reflex. I do about as good with scary stuff as BunnyChan, but I'm not nearly as cute about it.
BookWyrm: !screamcounter

(The Scream Counter updates to 2)

BookWyrm: @GlimmerSparkleDazzle It's on purpose. The less power you have to fight back, the more scary it is. It's a psychological thing.

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: ... Not... fight back.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: That sounds like a weird premise for a game.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: And people like those kinds of games?

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: Oh yeah reminds me of SOMA, another game I need to finish one of these days. You have no weapon and can't fight the monster at all!
Malloween: OH THERE'S AN EXAMPLE OF A GAME WHERE THE REAL HORROR ISN'T JUMPSCARES FOUND ONE
Malloween: Although there's jumpscares too

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: *posts a link to the original interactive novel Fate/Stay: Night*
Su_Miso_Sen: It started in the US with this book series called Choose Your Own Adventure.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"Excessive, and yet, warranted," Hopchan laments, and nuzzles up against Mamoru, utterly unashamed PDA. She ignores the chat for a moment, leaning against Mamoru. She's shaking because the game is indeed very atmospheric and scary, and she's bad at scary games, if only because fear is her kryptonite.

"I haven't figured out the controls yet," Hopchan tells the chat, "So I kinda just panicked, and yet, the game did not end. We are trapped here. So... maybe that was a dream, or maybe we died. I guess we're going to find out?"

The cutscene shows a conversation between the office - Cybil Bennet - who explains that she's from the next town over and is investigating mysterious occurrences. The player character is named Harry Mason, and he and his daughter Cheryl were apparently coming here on vacation.

"Why? Why did we come here?! What makes a place like Silent Hill sound like a good place for a vacation with our little kid?!"

Harry and Cybil are apparently the only people in the entire town, everyone else in town having disappeared, with all the phones and radios going dead. Cybil's plan is to go out and call for reinforcements, but Harry is determined to go back out there and find Cheryl.

"That's right, this place is awful and scary but we can't leave our little girl out there!" Hopchan punches the air in a show of bravery.

Cybil asks if Harry has a gun, and when he says no, decides to trust him with her own.

"Wow, it really is easy to get a gun in America..."

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
LeftUnsupervised: @BookWyrm scary is a wierd typo for annoying did your autocorrect eat your headphones
LeftUnsupervised: @CoffeeQueen wait i didnt think you had coworkers why are you typing from a second account

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: @Glimmer games are about sharing an experience with the player. Not *all* experiences are power fantasies, other experiences can be shared too! It's like how there's different genres of literature and movies, and how there are both amusement park rides and haunted houses.

Malloween: Wait little kid? I thought Cheryl was supposed to be a teenager now?
Malloween: I mean, it was the 90s and also they're in a town with monstrs. If we were surrounded by monsters would you hand out guns too? After making sure everyone understood basic firearm safety of course.

Jadeite has posed:
@Malloween @hopchan no america really is like that. it's shockingly easy to get a gun. i could probably fly there and buy one within 24 hours of landing if i wanted. (dont do this chat)

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: I mean, there are weapons all over the place, too.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Grab a stick, a broom, a rock, a piece of glass.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: I mean, the pokemon games make sense, at least. You don't punch them because that'd be cheating, you're already training the little princesses to fight.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Amusement park rides? So like, parks where you play games and stuff? I've only seen a normal park so far.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Went to a haunted village once, though. Turned out it was a defective tower thing though and everyone had run off.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"She's the gamer, Dazzler, I can't protect her from games, I can only hug her," Unmask says to Glimmer in the chat. "Glimmer I mean. The chat is scrolling really fast, you guys are really chatty..."

He stays lightly attached to Hopchan, not really thinking the screaming is funny anymore, but, "You're being so brave," he murmurs, forgetting about the mic.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: I was gonna make a comment about whether this guy is displaying trigger discipline or not but I can't tell with the PS1 models.
Malloween: If you need a break Hopchan its OK
Malloween: I never liked jumpscares either when I stream I am not doing jumpscares
Malloween: Unless people make it worth it somehow? Hopchan what made you decide to do a horror game stream even though you hate them?

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
As Harry starts exploring, a radio crackling sounds, and Hopchan moves to explore it - and then a flying monster crashes through the window and starts attacking.

"Oh, come on!" This time, button pressing gets a result - a menu is opened, and Hopchan is quick to equip the gun she was just given. A few wobbly shots later, and the flying monster crashes to the ground in a puddle of blood.

"No Harry, this is not a dream," Hopchan whines, "It's a nightmare called a Scream Stream."

The radio is picked up, and Harry exits the creepy and now broken into diner - and as they do, the screen transitions to a map, showing locations.

"Well, that was helpful, I guess... time to look around - NO!"

Scream counter updated, because in finding medicine and bullets, more flying monsters are encountered. This time, Hopchan runs away.

"I'm gonna try and conserve ammo... i don't know if this game lets me level up..."

Reviewing the chat -

"I mean, guns have been restricted here in Japan since 1958, so even in the 90s you wouldn't have just been able to get a gun... Wow, Ice, its really still that easy? That doesn't sound like a good thing..."

There's another little quiet moment, as Hopchan leans against Mamoru.

"Thanks," she mumbles, "It's okay. I'm scared, but you're here, and it's just a game. We've seen way scarier things than this."

A question from the chat -

"I do a Scream Stream a couple of times a year, because everyone likes them so much. Scary games always end up in my vote queue, and I don't mind doing them sometimes because they're really popular, and as long as there's a couple, people won't bug me about it the rest of the year."

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: Rules for voting in a game are:

a) It cannot be over-18 content
b) It must be playable on a controller.
c) No violence towards bunnies

*Link for the official HopHopBunnyChan Plays! site's game submission page*

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: I mean, some people *like* being scared when it's fake? Not me though. @Left I got scared and my first reflex was to hurl the source of the scary across the room.

(( In her dorm room, Rashmi pats Nicomachea and apologizes for the fifteenth time. ))

BookWyrm: ...I do not like that radio noise at all. Is that going to happen every time there's a monster? Maybe you can use that?

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Do they even buy you nice things to make up for it?" Unmask asks, sounding a little shocked that she's doing this just because other people like it. Then he glances at the chat. "Wait. Isn't Call of Duty over-eighteen content? For that matter, isn't this one?"

Instead of looking it up on his neglected laptop, he takes his phone out of his pocket and woogles it left-handed. "This one is totally rated R. Miso, what are you talking about."

Either he doesn't know or he's being deliberately dense. "Hopchan, if you die maybe you just end up waking up somewhere else again...?"

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: What kind of monster would hurt a bunny?
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Wait, so you guys are in an old, half build building, right? What if someone broke in right now? I mean, the weather outside is awful.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: It'd be easy for someone to break a window and sneak in, and you wouldn't even hear it over all the lightning and rain.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Or someTHING.

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: We just lost power in this part of Juuban. Everyone else alright?
Su_Miso_Sen: Official report is lightning struck a transformer.
Su_Miso_Sen: Don't worry, phone is fully charged.
Su_Miso_Sen: @HophopBunnyChan I can run out and check on your family, if you need.

*Anyone who checks does see a local outage in Juuban due to a lightning strike and a notice to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary*

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: The weather is getting very bad. The weather service is issuing warnings all around. Are you both okay in the apartment?

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: So is Fate/Stay Night.
Malloween: I figure the mod means no sexual content
Malloween: So violence is OK, H-games no!
Malloween: Very American! :cowboyhatface emoji:
Malloween: But seriously I think that's just part of the platform's TOS
Malloween: I honestly don't remember if stuff R-rated for violence is age-restricted here I haven't been to a physical game store in forever
Malloween: Okay wait is that PLAYER violence against bunnies so like, no Rayman actually come to think of it to rabbit monsters like the rabites in Seiken Densetsu count
Malloween: But what I was gonna ask is if the ending disqualifies Doom
Malloween: Hophop you've played so much COD but havew you ever played the original Doom
Malloween: Have you played the original deathmatch?
Malloween: Oh dang stay safe mod!

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
LeftUnsupervised: @GlimmerSparkleDazzle clearly that is why unmaskalive is there to defend from intruders rain and moonhowling
LeftUnsupervised: @Su_Miso_Sen swear-increment, you need anything yourself?

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"They do! Not that anyone is obligated to buy me anything, but, my followers have been supporting me for years, and they often send me games and merch and things they want me to have - especially snacks!"

Oh yes, she's been bribed with snacks many a time.

"Remember last month, when we tried that fancy viral chocolate? The one from Dubai, with the pistachio cream? One of my subscribers sent that! They wanted to know if I'd like it."

Those things are like fifty USD for two bars. It is not a cheap gift to send to a stream.

"I did, by the way! It was amazing! This is not sponsored, but Nuts-Factory in New York made an amazing chocolate bar with that one!"

"Power outage? Really?!" A quick check, and then, "Thanks Su, but it's okay, I just got a message from my Papa. He says they've still got power over there... man, this storm is getting bad though!"

She frowns, looking out the window. "I mean, it's normal for typhoon season to be bad, I guess... and this is an older building, but it's not half-built, it's just getting a lot of remodeling! But don't worry. We'd know if someone broke in. We've always got eyes watching!"

Yes, that's one way to describe psychic powers, alien cats with installed security systems, and a horde of protective guardians each.

"Okay, back to the game... they explore a few more areas, including abandoned shops and stores, finding items and materials, running away from monsters that look like large, skinless dogs, and eventually returning to the scary area with the abandoned wheelchair before finding a page with TO SCHOOL written on it in red. Harry finds a steel pipe, and identifies the page as being from Cheryl's sketchbook - they find the cover of the sketchbook nearby.

"Okay, so we're going to the place every reasonable kid hates... the school..."

Fighting through the skinless dogs (with the pipe! No wasting bullets!) and running, the radio does indeed screech every time a monster approaches.

"Hey, Bookwyrm, you were right, this is really useful!"

A monster flies from off-screen and strikes Harry in the head, but Hopchan keeps running.

Molly Skyline has posed:
GlitterGirl: Okay hey I'm back is she dead yet?
GlitterGirl: Oh no she's not! Still alive. Nice job!
GlitterGirl: Also if some kind of horrible death scene happened I wouldn't wanna miss it.

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: I should have said no adult naughtystuff. Subs have been banned in the past trying to get hentai games played.
Su_Miso_Sen: Channel had to be rated for violence and swearing, otherwise SOMEONE couldn't play Call of Duty on it.

*Video Link Posted: Hophop's 36 F-bombs in 1 session!*

Su_Miso_Sen: Wow it is dense out there. I can't see across the street from the window of my parents' place.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Glimmer: The building's only like thirty years old, and the windows are LORGE, we'd definitely hear it. The way you heard a window breaking," Unmask points out. "Besides, if someone or something broke in then at least we could beat them up. Like Left said. Unlike this game, I have a crowbar--"

Another laugh, and he adjusts his glasses, putting his phone in his shirt pocket this time. "But yeah, our lookouts are better at fighting than me, anyway."

This time he flinches at the thunder before looking at the chat again. "Maybe we should move into an inner room, there are plenty with no windows," he suggests to Hopchan.

And then he looks more unsettled than he has yet. "I don't like those dogthings. I don't like this school. Oh it got you-- oh no it didn't--"

He looks at the chat. "Hey, SOMEONE plays Call of Duty really well, and held some kind of awesome record before I made her break it..."

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Geez, last time I saw a storm this bad the world was ending...
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: .... Make that another window broken. They broke it trying to fix the first window. I swear.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Schools can't be trusted. Especially evil schools.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: ...Oh good, creepy school setting. That's not gonna be nightmares for days or anything.
BookWyrm: @GlitterSparkleDazzle I mean by the way the first twenty minutes are going, there's gonna be a *lot* of horrible death around here without it being Harry-san.
BookWyrm: UnMask has a good idea too, maybe on the next snack break?

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
LeftUnsupervised: @Malloween do not pet the not dogs

Jadeite has posed:
IceIceBB: the real horror was the american gun facts we learned along the way

(Somewhere else, Tamaki leans over from his laptop. "Kazuo, do you want me to go check on them?" He has faith in his prince and princess and his fellow Shitennou, of course, but this level of worry. it isbad. So are the storm noises outside.)

Molly Skyline has posed:
GliterGirl: @MookWyrm I was the one asking for horrible death. OUr names are just really similar. <3
@LeftUnsupervised I didn't really have a choice, my Moms made dinner and I'm not gonna not eat with them 'cause my Moms are awesome.
@GlimmerSparkleDazzle The schools here are way better than in England though.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
MercuryInPrograde: Yes please move somewhere safer! There's no reason to risk yourselves even if you're having fun!

(Also elsewhere, with laptop propped in her lap, Ami looks over toward Tamaki and Kazuo. "If you go, I should too. Storms are more Jupiter's thing than mine, but rain I can deal with in more ways than one." )

Malloween: Well not really I tried it several years back and I wouldn't say it's *easy* on normal difficulty then again I may be an awful gamer
Malloween: Anyway at the end Doomguy finds out the demons killed his pet rabbit though, so, content warning I guess
Malloween: If you are down for Seiken Densetsu 3 / Trials of Mana one day even though it has cute bunny monsters that would be cool I did promise the Juuban Flu I'd do it
Malloween: Ugh imagine going to school. What a terrible fate. However will we OK I AM GLAD OUR SCHOOL DOES NOT HAVE DOG MONSTERS
Malloween: How did you get into Call of Duty anyway?
Malloween: Notdogs sounds like the most questionable name for a hotdog brand
Malloween: Uh if it is THAT BAD do what you gotta do
Malloween: DAMN loud lightning!
Malloween: YES HYDRATE
Malloween: Man the window better not break and rain on them right after we vote that

(Kazuo shakes his head, glancing up and back to Tamaki and Ami. "They're fine so far. But - Ami, I was about to text Makoto and ask if she felt all right; do you want to do that instead or should I? That comment about not being able to see across the street has me a little worried.")

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: GEEZ! I swear the whole tower is rocking.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Ugh. Wish I was on the ground floor. That cat better be staying inside.

Molly Skyline has posed:
GlitterGirl: @Su_Miso_Sen Thank you!

(A few minutes later there's a game donation of Duskers sent to HopHopBunnyChanPlays@flinch.jp)

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: @GlimmerSparkleDazzle building construction in JP is the best in the world. Anything over 3 stories has good foundations against earthquakes and flooding, and skyscrapers are specifically built to withstand worse than this. It's what happens when a generation of architects grows up with the OG Godzilla.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami glances down to her laptop as she reaches instead for the phone beside it that she was currently using as a wifi hotspot so that she wasn't just stealing all the wifi here. Plus it made sure to give multiple IP hits on the streaming site that way (she'd looked into it.) "Good point, I'll give her a call. This does feel very..." She trails off as she shudders. "It doesn't feel *good* right now to me. I almost feel queasy from the rain." She's already texting rapidly. After, she shoots another chat message.

MercuryInPrograde: Building construction is good but water gets everywhere and can cause damage.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
In the game, over the next five minutes, they do the following:

First, they make it to a dead end, the street cracked and a large drop waiting. There are pages in the sketchbook writing DOG HOUSE and LEVIN STREET.

"This is so convenient and so scary..."

Backtracking, they find the dog house and are promptly attacked by dog monsters. A house key is taken from the dog house after all three are shot to death, and the house is entered. A quick exploration leads them to a first aid kit, a backdoor locked with three locks, and a map, titled Keys for Eclipse.

"...gotta admit, I don't like the word eclipse anymore... and okay, these keys look like they're all over town, so maybe we can take a break and move to a better room, like you said and like Bookwyrm and Mercury agreed..."

Seeing the vote for HYDRATE, HOP-CHAN, she starts to giggle. The people are speaking!

"Okay, hydration it is. This video is not sponsored by pineapple ramune, but it is Unmask-chan's favorite flavor," she tells the people, holding up a bottle, and pausing the game. "We're gonna move over to the next room, come along with us for an adventure..."

An in a few minutes, mostly characterized by bouncing light from the flashlights, Hopchan and Unmask move deeper into the empty, empty apartment building. Lightning also illuminates the pair, rapidfire in qiock succession.

The camera is focused on Hopchan, so no one can see the interior of the apartment, but the fact that it takes them a few minutes just to get there proves that it's a large place.

"...this storm is really bad. I'm not surprised windows are breaking... everyone, please stay safe out there..."

Finally, they get settled.

"Oh, you can buy games at the web - oh! Su, you're great!"

The game resumes - they skip the keys for now, instead, moving on to the school.

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: I'm surprised your power hasn't gone out. It--
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Oh, and there goes the tower's power.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Aaaaaand apparently there's a backup.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: ... Huh. A lot of the doors and windows just sealed. They gotta fix that.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: ... Maybe I should move. Brb, gonna go check everything, leaving my phone behind so it doesn't get wet.

Jadeite has posed:
"Right?" Tamaki says to Ami, pulling a face. "This doesn't feel much like a winter storm to me. there's not a lot of ice for me to pick up on. It's just - wet, and hot enough to stay wet." He grimaces to Ami and Kazuo; it's not a great feeling. Despite Tokyo being far less humid than his home in Indiana, he's starting to feel sweat sticking to him, making his clothing cling.

"Maybe it's because this isn't anything like a tornado, but - something feels wrong about this weather."

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: Safe as can be! But yeah it's getting *super* bad out, I can't see the ground from my dorm anymore.
BookWyrm: @GlitterGirl Let me know if you'll need help cleaning up tomorrow? I'm now getting horrible mental images of what happened to the restaurant.
BookWyrm @HopHopBunnyChan Pineapple's good! Melon's objectively better though. There's science and everything to back me up.

Koji Silvia has posed:

Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami nods numbly to Tamaki, "Oh, good, it's not just me then." As the gamers shift rooms Ami sits there. Staring forward. Lips pressed together as she remains tensely quiet. It takes a few minutes as her fingers linger over the keyboard to her laptop which were oddly unmoving. Usually she was typing away or flipping between screens multi-tasking on something. Even while watching this.

Now? She doesn't move or make a sound until the stream is back up properly with them somewhere safer, at which point she lets out a sigh of relief and... "There's too much. We need to get somewhere safer, too. It's going to flood. Badly."

Her fingers tap over the keys quickly.

MercuryInPrograde: Flooding soon get to safety everyone.

Molly Skyline has posed:
GlitterGirl: @BookWyrm Thanks! We brought in all the movie posters and stuff that'd get ruined and battened down the furniture, but it'll be a job to clean up for sure.
GlitterGirl: We've got windows that looks like they might wanna leak so we might retreat to the shop downstairs soon.

Malloween: The school still has power. I hope everyone elsewhere is OK
Malloween Liked the stream!
Malloween: Wait flooding WHERE? At the school?!
Malloween: I mean IRL not the one in the game

Amy checks weather alerts and such on her screen. Surely there'd be something over the PA system if the school had to be evacuated, right?

    ...Right?

Molly Skyline has posed:
GlitterGirl: Oh hey thanks for the sub!! That's rad! You're the best!

Koji Silvia has posed:
Su_Miso_Sen: I am closing up shop here and going to head to school. Don't worry, I can use the underground all the way to the rail station and those are still in service for a little bit.
Su_Miso_Sen: Power came back on a minute ago in Juuban, then went out again. I think there's power people working. I can sort of see lights down the way.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Pineapple's the best," Unmask says, settling back in next to Hopchan after he finishes moving all the rest of the things. He pops his own ramune bottle and also opens a bottle of water because holy cow is that stuff sweet. "Sorry."

He glares offscreen -- at the balcony door at the other end of the room -- and looks back at the screen, lips pursed. "I don't actually like this storm at all, Bunbun. And I usually like thunderstorms..." He squints at the chat. "Oh there's agreement. Yeah this is wild. Uh-- Miso, are you sure you want to take the underground if it's gonna be flooding?"

Koji Silvia has posed:
Text to Mamoru Chiba: Said that for the chat. Roofrunning back to RHA now. I needed to make sure my parents and Usagi-chan's are really safe. Hanzo's been chatbotting for me. Don't tell her. You know she'll get worried.

Molly Skyline has posed:
GlitterGirl: @BookWyrm Let me know if you need any help, I'll... uhm hmm
GlitterGirl: @BookWyrm I'll come over as soon as my Moms have gone to bed so they aren't worried about me being outside during a typhoon

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Ugh, what I miss? I swear, carpet is a mess. Turns out they locked just this floor down. Stopped the rain but, you know. LOCKED DOWN THE FLOOR!
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Surprised I still have signal, though. Also, I swear I can smell wet fur.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Seriously, this storm is wild.

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
LeftUnsupervised: please do not be outside in a flood
LeftUnsupervised: the rail does not run into the bay you cant take it back home

("Will going up to join them work, do you think, or do we need to really move?" Kazuo is back to thumb-typing. While getting up. While looking at Ami and Tamaki. Somehow there are no typos.)

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: I haven't tried the rail yet, this could be fun! An adventure!
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: I've gone through worse, lots of times. Went into a whirlpool once.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: ... Seahawk's an idiot.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Lockdown is done! Windows are open again and SWEET ETHERIA!

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
The school is mostly okay, but there's more blood here, showing that this school isn't safe, either. Before long, Harry is attacked by short monsters - no bigger than children - with long arms and longer claws, and Hop-chan can be visibly seen looking from the screen to a spot in the distance, beyond the camera.

(It's the balcony - they'd moved to Mamoru's walk-in closet, which naturally has no windows. She doesn't like this storm at all, but she's not sure if cancelling her stream makes sense - it's not like Sailor Moon can fight bad weather, right?"

"Mercury-chan is right," Hopchan says, after reading the message, "If you're on a ground floor, see if there's flooding in your area and if you can get to higher ground. We're going to keep streaming, since we're safe, but you should all make sure you're safe too!"

In the game, they navigate through the school further... Darkness that Brings the Choking Heat ... Flames render the silence, awakening the hungry beast. Open time's door to beckon prey.

"Well, I hate whatever this is supposed to be..."

She fights another monster, before entering a room with many bookshelves.

"I wonder if we'll find some suPPLIES?!"

It's shriek, punctuated by a squeak, but not one from Hopchan. Even as Hopchan flinched back into Unmask, on the screen, ghosts - reaching up to Harry's knees - are fading in, swarming towards Harry.

They're... squeaking?

Hop's eyes are wide, and shocked, and this is a bit much, but - "They're almost... cute?"

And then Harry wobbles. And then Harry flinches.

"Huh?" She tries to navigate him away - but the squeaking ghosts keep moving closer, they keep coming for her and -

Harry collapses.

GAME OVER

"What the FUCK?!" Gamer emotions, Hophop is having them.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: Okay back we still have power so the rice cooker is--

BookWyrm: @GlimmerSparkleDazzle GSD? What's happening?
BookWyrm: !swearcounter

BookWyrm: What was that? In the game. And outside, I guess too.
BookWyrm: This is the worst typhoon we've had in a *long time,* you guys...

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: I think the Academy is still OK?
Malloween: It is so weird to have anything almost cute in this game after everything so far
Malloween: How is it that the tiny cute ghosts are the thing that finally gets you?!

Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami Mizuno sweeps her laptop up to carry one armed. The phone is in the other but quickly it's tucked into the pocket of her cardigan. It was cozy vibes night, darn it, she wasn't going to not wear something cozy and warm and comfy.

At least that had been the plan.

"Upstairs will help," she agrees as she heads for said stairs with a sudden haste. She transforms along the way into Sailor Mercury just in case she needs to have more control over water than just 'I feel it in my soul/bones/spirit/whatever'. Besides, with the way those two had issues with 'date nights' it was probably for the best.

Glimmer Brightmoon has posed:
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Someone's car got WRECKED! Like, DANG!
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: One of those... things. The things with wires. The phone trees! They fell on it!
GlimmerSparkleDazzle: Oh. Oh dear. Stone's glowing not a good sign gotta go byyyyyye.
GlimmerSparkleDazzle has logged out.

Rashmi Terios has posed:
BookWyrm: ...Well uh... *that's* a bad sign...

<< TXT to Hanzo -- You had *better* not be out in this and if you are you had *better* let me know the moment something goes wrong. >>

Jadeite has posed:
Tamaki transforms into Jadeite as he follows Ami, swiftly unplugging his laptop and grabbing the cord and his backpack and phone before following her up the stairs.

"I hate this. Thetis with her whirlpool was bad enough - I hope Jupiter replies soon, because if she can blast whatever this is into oblivion, I'll buy her baking supplies for three months."

It's unlikelyl. And yet. he has to hope. Because he haaates thiiiis.

Unmask's phone buzzes and he takes it out, taking a break from the chat to look at the text he just got. He scowls and puts his ramune down, thumbing something in left-handed:

Mamoru TXT Koji: she wont be worried youre a big boy

Then he glances at the chat and tries to read up, but misses most of it. That's fine though. It's fine. Because,

unmaskalive0807: Glimmer, can you check on my brother, make sure he's okay? If you don't know what I mean, don't-- ahhh, shimatta."

Then Unmask is just grimacing at the screen. "Oh this is going to be gnarly, isn't it," he says right before Hopchan flinches back into him. Then she's having Harry's Difficulties and his Agonies and their bafflement, and then she's in her own Agonies and Unmask--

When she swears like that he bursts out laughing.

Neither of them is any use right now.

Kazuo Saitou has posed:
Kazuo goes up with them, not transformed - because he's terrible at keeping his phone with him when he changes, and he's still watching the stream.

At least that means they're accompanied by honest laughter. Something not creepy is ... very nice.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"Well I'm glad I saved the game," Hopchan pouts, pushing the laptop away for a second. She pouts at Mamoru as he laughs at her gamer emotions, and stretches both arms above her head, slightly knocking askew her headphones. "That was really, really scary alright... and it took us a while to get to our first death, exploring everything and running away from so many monsters, and so that was great, but man, this game is doing a lot to my nerves..."

But she's smiling at Mamoru laughing at her, because at least with the death, she's got a chance to decide if she wants to dive back into the game, or do a dreaded ad break, or take another hydration break, or just push the camera away and kiss her fiancé until she feels better -

And then, there's another strike of lightning - it's coming so often, that with her headphones askew, she realizes the thunder is breaking so fast, it's every minute, twice in a minute -

"This storm..."

And in the brightness of the lightning, as she's reaching out for Mamoru, she twists, and she sees, the shimmering silhouette of a girl dancing on the balcony, twisting in the air. There are sparkles - there's color, but not human color, not human-skin, a spread of color from deep navy to magenta, speckled with white, and they're seven stories up.

"What the-"

The lightning ends. The darkness returns. Usagi Tsukino jumps to her feet, the persona of Hopchan abandoned.

Lightning strikes again, three times, rapid succession, and she sees more of them, more girls are out there, dancing in the sky -

"Stream cancelled! We've got to go -"

And the last thing the camera shows is Usagi slamming it shot, as she turns to Mamoru, snatching her communicator.

MOON to OPEN CHANNEL: "I just saw girls dancing in the sky outside Mamoru's balcony, but there's no way anyone got up here?!"

Amanda Faust has posed:
Malloween: We're still good here, stay safe out there!

It is just a hurricane -- err, typhoon, right? Amy's not sensing darkness, and...

Heck. Even Sunset of Sora didn't cause something like this. Beryl turned into a goddamn giant monster and it didn't cause storms across all of Paris.

It's easy to want to blame everything on magic, but... nature is demonstrating that its awesome power -- at least as far as pure, violent force rather than anything coordinated and purposeful -- dwarfs hero and villain alike.

Amy has very distant memories of having to hide in the basement from Hurricane Bob. He barely understood why. But the outside was loud and the little basement windows were dark. But his parents gave him some chocolate milk so everything was OK.

She barely remembers seeing the destruction after, but there was a road in her home neighborhood so badly damaged it was never repaired and reopened to cars, even when she was last there a couple years ago.

Malloween: Geeze, the lightning is getting crazy.

And then the stream is canceled, and then Amy's communicator is going off.

"Girls dancing?" Maybe it's multiple monsters? How many, to be this strong?! "Um... standing by! Did you say... dancing in the sky? What do they look like?"

Rashmi Terios has posed:
There are few things that can really motivate someone to move with a purpose, than seeing Usagi go from scared to On Duty in the blink of an eye, to the point of shutting down a gaming stream.

Snatching Nicomachea off her lap, she disconnects from the stream, sending out a flurry of telepathic text messages.

<< To MOLLY -- Something's happening it looks like it's big I'm keeping my promise follow my tracking ping. >>
<< To HANZO -- I can't spot it, I'm not out of the dorms yet but I'll send you the ping the moment I get one ARE YOU OKAY. >>
<< To AMY -- This looks pretty all-hands, let me know the moment you're underway. >>
<< To USAGI -- I'm coming to you, I need an address and I'm bringing backup. >>
<< To HINOIRI -- Hinoiri-chan if you're not somewhere safe and above ground level, GET THERE RIGHT NOW. Something is super wrong. >>

With that she's in henshin and opening her own window... which might not have been the best idea, given that the wind tears it from her grasp almost immediately, and sends it against the outside wall hard enough to crack the glass.

So she has to pause for a moment to carefully close it again, once she's out in the wind and the drench, and hope she doesn't get in trouble.

<< Nicomachea are you *absolutely sure* that spell's passed all the sims like we want it to? I get the feeling we're gonna need it... >>

Molly Skyline has posed:
<< I'm on my way right now. >>

The second business makes itself pressing, Molly is on her way out; hopefully Mom and Mom just won't notice, but saving the city takes precedense and she'll make something up later. Having to lie to your adopted parents all the time really just sucks sometimes.

She opens the window as briefly as possible -- it is raining afterall -- and she's out on the ledge, which would be an extremely precarious position in this rainstorm; but she's in her barrier jacket and her wings are keeping her stable as she slams the window shut before too much rain gets into her room. Oh good grief, her computer monitor... oh not good.

Oh well, she wanted a new one anyway. Has she saved up enough allowance? Why is life as a teenager so hard?

"Starcrash, deploy a basic shield please," she instructs.

<< AFFIRMATIVE >>

With that done she's off, flying into the night and following Rashmi's signal.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Good thing Usagi's closing the laptop; Mamoru got a flash of that -- whether from watching it himself or because Usagi's whole attention was consumed by it when their hands touched -- and is already pulling his pocketwatch out, gripped solidly in his hand.

He looks back at the balcony door and says, "No, there's no way anyone got up here. This feels really bad." Then Mamoru flicks his own communicator and says, "They look like ombre outlines fading from navy blue to magenta. Sort of. They look wrong. Like non-Euclidean color, if that makes sense."

He glances at Usagi again, nods, and holds up his glittering gold pocketwatch, then calls out, "Earth Prism Power, Make Up!" and his henshin pours over him, heralded by a gleaming line of golden light circling him.

"The others are on their way up," Tuxedo Kamen says, flipping his cape back. "Let's go back out there."

Back. To the living room. Not outside, not yet.

Amanda Faust has posed:
<< Underway to WHERE? Is Usagi even at the center of it?! >> Amy glances at her phone, and at the weather reports on her computer.

LOOK UP AT THE SKY. NOW. Amy looks at the window. Can't see shit. She runs to the roof, transforming in the stairwell.

    << Chiba-san... Can you get a picture? >>

And she opens the door to the howling storm outside, and looks

    up

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Mamoru transforms.

Usagi stands beside him compact in hand, eyes on the sky. She can feel the storm, without her headphones on - the sway of the building, moving with the wind to keep from breaking. The pounding of the rain on glass and stone. The crack of thunder and lightning.

Absolutely nothing in her wants to go out in that.

Everything in her being knows she has too.

"Moon Prism Power, Make Up!"

And in a swirl of light and color, Sailor Moon stands at Tuxedo Mask's side, silver crystal glowing in the Crescent Wand.

"Once the others get here, we'll have to meet them out there," she says, quiet, just for the two of them. "But we've got this. We beat Sunset, we beat Beryl, and there's no way we're losing to a storm."

Thunder cracks. Lightning splits the sky.

She clutches his hand tight and they walk together to Mamoru's living room, where their guardians will meet them.
