- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
It's somewhere between breakfast and lunch, but there's no school today, November 2nd, the day after a freak supermassive hurricane hit Tokyo and then dissipated faster than any other hurricane-force storm in recorded history. A lot of the local kids are out helping their parents or home neighborhoods clean up.
At least cell service is working again, though public transit will be a mess for a bit in the areas of the city hit the worst.
Low voices, and then Mamoru slips in to the curtained-off area where Tsubasa's been sleeping. There's a large calico cat draped across his shoulders, and one reusable shopping bag in his hands. "Hey are you awake yet?" comes Mamoru's voice.
"Anko jump--?" the cat on Mamoru's shoulders asks in a purry girl voice.
"No, that's not a nice way to wake up," Mamoru answers the cat.
- Tsubasa Yuunagi has posed:
After collapsing on the ground, Tsubasa slept. He dreamt of soaring skies and powerful wings, and warm clouds and favorable winds. None of the stuff that happened during the hurricane. The boy was sitting on the edge of a cliff, about to jump off and take flight, when he hears his father's voice...
'Hey are you awake yet?'
'Anko jump?' says his mom, and that really confuses him, and that starts Tsubasa to stirring awake. Large brown eyes, no longer red now that he's out of henshin start to open, blinking in rapid succession as he realizes he fell out of said henshin and squirms. "W-w-what happened? Where am I?" The two favorite questions of those that were unconscious!
And he finds himself blinking up at a tall young man and... a cat? Did the cat talk? He missed that.
"Sorry... I must have fallen asleep."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"I'm Chiba Mamoru, remember me? From Takezaki-san's house? Also Tuxedo Mask," says the tall youth with a little smile, "and this is Anko, and she talks, and I brought you your palette and some pastry. I hope you like chocolate taiyaki."
Mamoru takes a step closer and offers the shopping bag. "I didn't tell anyone," he promises. "I also wanted to say sorry for being so nervous."
"Anko eat taiyaki," the cat says, stretching a little and whipping her tail into Mamoru's face. Mamoru's free hand comes up to shield his face and he says a little peevishly to her, "You ate some already, these are for Yuunagi-san!"
He glances at Tsubasa quick. "Don't worry, I didn't give her chocolate ones."
- Tsubasa Yuunagi has posed:
It takes a couple of moments for Tsubasa to connect the dots - the removal of the veil and his own brain snapping back into working order. "Oh, Chiba-san! Right, I rememmber." Then comes the remark that he's also Tuxedo Mask. And that one takes a few more moments of thought, before he finally allows himself to smile as he sits up, drawing his knees to his chest, making himself smaller than he already is. "I am Tsubasa Yuunagi, grade 7. And also Cure Wing. Hello, Mamo-san, Anko. I love taiyaki." He doesn't know /how/ Mamoru knew that, which leads to a briefly confused look as he accepts the bag.
And then he remembers, and ohs. "I gave you the color palette." he recalls. "Do you still have it? It belongs to my team, they let me borrow it because I'm the one it effects most." A pause and his cheeks color a little. "I mean. You found that out. Sorry, I should have told you that it temporarily syncs our energies into one attack. Just... wasn't time to explain in that moment?"
And then a little more worriedly. "You're okay, right? I focused my attack so I took the brunt of it and you would be shielded, since you were worried. I didn't want you to get hurt and like... not trust me ever again." A little forced laugh at that.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Mamoru comes around the side of the bed to sit in the chair there as he hands the bag over to Tsubasa. As promised, both the Palette and the taiyaki are in the bag, but they're also in separate bags *in* the big bag, because don't want to get crumbs and grease and goop on the magical device.
"I'm glad! I love taiyaki too, and I always think, you know, if I get someone something I like and they don't like it, I can always eat it," laughs Mamoru, and he straightens his glasses after Anko jumps onto the bed and starts sniffing at Tsubasa.
"She likes pets and scritches--" the teenager starts, and then Anko interrupts, "Mamorrrrru does not love Anko. Pet Anko! Anko has never been pet in her life."
Mamoru sighs.
Anko twines around Tsubasa and pushes up against him, headbutt headbutt.
"Anyway, that's fine, you didn't have enough time to tell me that -- and that's a great combo mechanic! That's what I meant by charge up -- I can give other people my power for their attack and it packs a bigger punch than either of us alone. So you didn't need it," he explains, leaning forward a little, elbows on his knees.
Then he looks -- embarrassed? He looks down and away and admits, "It wasn't the flying, or being worried by anything rational. I'm afraid of fire."
- Tsubasa Yuunagi has posed:
Taking out the palette, Tsubasa carefully slips it back in his pocket. "Ahega-kun would have a fit it I lost it." he admits with a bit of color to his cheeks. The comment about the taiyaki makes him chuckle, and his smile becomes a little less guarded in the process. When Anko jumps on the bed, for a moment, Tsubasa tenses. After all... cats are something that he might be a little scared of?
But eventually he realizes it's a //talking// cat, so surely, it won't bite him, right? He holds out his hand for the cat to sniff.
"Well, it does more than power me up. It can create shields and heal people and... other things. We had been trying different color combonations before I came here from Sorashido City." he explains, and then shakes his head. "Absolutely needed it. Can't transform without it." he points out.
When Mamoru admits his fear of fire, Tsubasa... ohs. He can understand that fear. "I'm sorry, I did not mean to scare you. I just saw the group of you on the roof and I needed to help and I just showed up." One can see the sweat drops popping from his skin. "I should have asked first!" he quickly offers.
Though he slumps a little. "I was hoping that a couple of people were there. They saved me when I was young, and I met their younger selves, and I thought maybe, if they saw how much I improved, they'd be impressed." he admits quietly.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Their younger selves are loose cannons," Mamoru says as Anko sniffs Tsubasa's hand, then puts her soft head under his hand.
"Anko, don't crowd him..." Mamoru pinches the bridge of his nose. "I'm sorry. I can bring her home but she'd just show up here again, probably. She's having a clingy day. C'mere, baby cat--" and he holds out his arms expectantly.
She doesn't look like a baby.
"Anyway, their younger selves... yeah. Their older selves can really only use their powers in self-defense or defense of one of their students, and they can't use like... offensive powers at all. So generally speaking we try and take care of stuff on our own. Either way, I definitely think the real ones -- the older ones -- would be super proud of you. Yesterday was amazing. You were amazing."
Then he coughs, a little embarrassed again. "You didn't have to ask. I should have asked what I was getting into before I signed up. Besides, I would have done it anyway! I don't have enough range to have been shooting at that thing and I can't fly."
- Tsubasa Yuunagi has posed:
"It's fine!" Tsubasa says about the cat. It's just a cat, how much harm can it do. And it sounds sweet and just... why doesn't she go back to Mamoru?? He distracts himself with one of the taiyakis to much on the fish-shaped cake, closing his eyes to savor the flavor. "Oh, this is really good!" he says, warming up slightly now that he's putting something in his stomach. With his movements, there is a bit of slowness and bruises. Nothing major.
But probably enough to make a mermaid princess worry later.
"Yeah, it was their younger selves that saved me when I fell out of an airplane. I should probably be really afraid of flying. But the way that they handled it all so gracefully - I just knew I had to overcome it!" he offers cheerfully. "Hopefully you will eventually feel more comfortable around flames." He pauses for a moment, then considers, glancing at his hands.
"I'm still getting used to being here. You're like awesomely popular. I mean, you and Usagi. I hear about you two around the school alot!"
"I wrote home about it couple of times. It's kinda hard being the small bird leaving the small nest to a larger nest, you know? But the other Precures and my friends in Sorashido City are always cheering me on. And with me, it keeps the Undergu Empire divided, so I'm doing what I must as a knight."
"Anyway! I can answer any questions you have now. And just... it's really amazing that you can lift everyone's spirits and powers!" His eyes might have just sparkled abit, because that is so cool.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Anko just looks at Mamoru like he's profoundly incapable of thought.
Mamoru frowns and gets up to pick Anko up, and she bats at his hand angrily. "Mamorrrrru no! It'sss fine! He sssaid! Anko has found love and warrrrrmth with Tsu!basa--" the 'tsu' sounds adorable "--and sssssalmon."
"He doesn't have salmon. There's salmon in the dorm. Go ask Koji for it," Mamoru says firmly.
"Hhhh," halfheartedly hisses at Mamoru and bats his hand harder, then jumps off the bed and minces into a shadow and disappears.
Mamoru, he sits down, watching the way Tsubasa is moving, but listening all the same. And he listens, and he smiles a little lopsidedly and nods at Tsubasa's telling him that exposure will help -- and he's right, it's been helping.
And then Mamoru covers his face with both hands and laughs, ears turning a little pink. "No way, you wrote home about-- us? You had to mean something else--"
He's not going to deny that they're popular. When you're friends with a lot of people, that's a nice way to be popular. Not the kind that steps on other people...BUT. "You lifted spirits just being there last night! Everyone did a lot more lifting of spirits than I did. Puella Red was amazing! But listen-- I do, I have a question. Do you want me to heal you up? You don't seem badly injured, but you took a fair amount of battering yesterday, and I can take care of that if you like."
- Tsubasa Yuunagi has posed:
"I'm sorry, I'm not really a c-cat person!" Tsubasa offers apologetically to Anko. Who is like most cats, will seek out the person that is most afraid of them and try to win them over with rubs and purrs until stopped. But as she disappears into the shadows, the boy blinks a few times in shock. "Oh, that's really neat!" he says, his voice betraying his sense of wonderment and awe of it all.
"Of course I did! Princess Elle-chan, Ageha, all of them want to make sure sure than I'm okay and that I'm making friends and tell them about my adventures, and the kids at the preschool want to know what heroic things I'm doing and I try to teach them that the best power is good friends to work with. And what you and Sailor Moon and everyone else does is just... so cool. And Charo and I are always talking and that's really neat." he admits.
"Anyway!" he smiles. "I'm just glad that the rain didn't put out my flames!" There's a laugh that comes with that, before he shakes his head. "Aww, it's just some scrapes and bumps. Comes from being a Precure that's all phsyical attacks. I'll be back in flight in no time." he promises. "But thank you for offering."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Cat magic I guess," says Mamoru, giving a brief affectionate look toward the shadows.
Then the older boy listens to the explanation, and stops blushing so much -- that makes sense, that's usual, and writing home is nice. He writes letters to Kazuo's mother, even though she lives close.
He grins, then. "I'm glad you're friends with Charon. She needs more of that. And I'm glad of the lessons you're taking away from all the fighting, they're good ones."
Finally, Mamoru gives Tsubasa a thumbs-up. "Just wanted to make sure," he says with a smile. "I don't really have any questions -- I wanted to get that back to you and check in before you left, and when I leave, I'm going to go work on helping people clean up. Mitakihara Ward took a big hit. You have my number, right? If you're looking for something to do in the next couple of days, give me a text and I'll put you to work."
- Tsubasa Yuunagi has posed:
Tsubasa returns the thumbs-up. "Using the color palette wears me out sometimes, so I just need lots of rest!" he reiterates in a promise. "Charon's really nice to hang out with. I hope she's allowed to attend the school. Maybe we can be in the same grade together." comes his hopeful response, finally straightening out his legs to let his hands settle on his lap.
"I think I have your number. I just need to get better about contacting people. I've not exactly been advertising that I'm Cure Wing, just because... I just don't know how that works." He hasn't even been to the Shed yet. "And when I'm up and about again, I'll be happy to help with the clean up or relief supplies or whatever I can do!" he says with a nod. "I'll get in contact with you!"
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"You definitely don't need to advertise, and you can also definitely be careful about it -- some people just aren't. I don't bother hiding it anymore, but my circumstances are different from yours," says Mamoru, getting up. He adjusts his glasses and runs a hand through his fluffy hair, then puts his hands in his pockets, and one takes out a pocketwatch, and he checks the time before looking back up.
"Also, text me if you haven't been introduced to the Shedquarters yet! I have to go meet the rest of my disaster relief party. Hope I see you soon," he finishes, tossing off a jaunty salute. If Tsubasa doesn't stop him, he slips out almost as noiselessly as Anko.
