"Good night, young miss~."
Chisa's voice is followed by the closing of the bedroom door, leaving Kureha lying in darkness. Even a day and a half later, her mind won't let the events at the aquarium go.
Thankfully, Chisa herself is fine. When it turned out that everyone was fainting or falling asleep there, it was a big relief to both Chisa and the doctors. Not a servant pushing herself too soon after injury, just... well, whatever the police end up calling it. Kureha's not sure she cares to find out. It won't be the truth.
Ultimately, it's meaningless. Let people believe what they want. Chisa's safe.
Besides, Kureha's used to deception in her life. And there's a lot more untruth going around since her transformation, and its associated 'miracle'. Her family's sudden interest. Her classmates' sudden interest. About the only honesty in her life right now comes from Chisa, Emi and Yozakura, and the latter two are only honest in their exasperation with her.
"Heh. Even honest frustration is nice for once."
They'll learn to deal with it. She's not under their thumb anymore. Entirely more concerning is thos other transforming girls. Three times she's transformed, and all three of them, other magical girls have been present. If it were just the once, she could have never transformed again, and hoped she never ran into anyone who was there at the museum. But now, two of them know for sure - and who knows how many more might on top of that. And all because she somehow keeps stumbling into danger, and her attendants end up right there with her.
Kureha doesn't realize she's scowling into the darkness. She's too busy being frustrated with herself for letting it slip that she was protecting Chisa. She should have written it off as a whim. As whimsy. Now those two girls know Chisa is a weakness of hers, and she doesn't trust those friendly smiles for a minute.
"I'm not getting involved. Not again. If anything seems weird I'm just getting out of there and taking Chisa or Emi or whoever with me. No more fighting. No more 'favors' or 'magical girls help each other' or however they want to drag a debt out of me."
The girl lies there ruminating a bit longer. She doesn't notice the slow slide into sleep - but just before she passes over the line, another image from the aquarium flits through her mind. A younger girl, passing out nearby, completely helpless at the mercy of a monster she can't even see.
Just faintly, Kureha's fingers curl around her sheets.
