- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
It's not long after the battle at all, maybe half an hour tops. It wasn't long after Mamoru finished his initial recovery that he was reminded to go out looking for Riventon-- and it wasn't long after he ran out of sight of the palace doors that he remembered he had an easier way to look for his brother. Hand splayed on the ground, it doesn't take him too long to find him, and then it's just a matter of following the vague feeling of his existence.
He has so many complicated emotions. He's angry, certainly, but it's very interfered with by the fact that they just won and the ground beneath their feet is happy again, and the people are all alive again, and holy shit he just did the coolest combo with the guys, but he's also kind of miffed at Kunzite and Nephrite for not listening to him, but right now he's shoving all of that aside to focus on--
--on keeping an even keel. But it has to be said-- if you have to pick a fight with a supervillain, Neo Queen Serenity's backyard is probably a good place for it.
"Riventon?" comes Mamoru's voice on the breeze.
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Riventon is currently sitting on the edge of a rooftop, drinking what is essentially a Crystal Tokyo Smoothie - some kind of fruit concoction. He's situated so he can look at the giant crystalline spires of the capital palace of the city, deep in thought when Mamoru comes to call.
Still, the calling of his name jolts him out of whatever thought he's thinking. He leans around, not even standing up, to regard Mamoru. "Yo." he says, raising his hand. "You know, there's no Dusk Zone here. It's weird. I was less surprised when that was the case in Kirakirafantastica, I mean, that place is a trip and a half and I had four legs at the time. But not feeling here is like... strange." he says, sharing some of his thoughts unbidden before taking another long drink out of the smoothie.
"It's not every day you kill an immortal and a planet either, though. Today's full of surprises."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
He can do this. He can do this even though every time Takashi interacts with him and they're not at odds in an immediate fight, Takashi's just being who he's always been, who he's been to Mamoru since they were small -- someone a little younger who let him protect him, didn't care that he was unnatural-- someone who was unnatural too, someone who had his back, a partner in crime, a best friend, and the closest thing to a brother that the lone red name on a koseki, so young, could have.
Someone who'd still be there.
Just like he was always going to be there for Takashi. It's just... their theres moved.
"Hope you don't start thinking you have an appetite for killing immortals and planets," the prince murmurs, a touch of irony in his voice as he puts his hands in his pockets, and doesn't sit down. He looks around at the city, walking over to stand next to where Riventon's sitting, then out and over at the immense crystals jutting out of the ground, shining brilliant in the sun.
The breeze tugs at his loose blue cotton shirt, at his red-tipped hair; one hand comes up after all, to take his glasses off and hang them off the neck of the t-shirt underneath. "Thank you for helping. I'm hoping it's not a surprise I'm angry with you for using Beryl's things."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Riventon shakes his head. "Mostly, I'm just annoyed Wiseman did the whole reassembling self thing first. Now if I do it I look like a poser." he says. It is, as sometimes is, hard to tell if Riventon is being serious or just deadpan about the issue.
"But you're angry?" Riventon asks. Ah, maybe on some level it is a surprise. "I mean. The Unkillable Jerk-skeleton who refused to die is now very much actually killed anyways. And I helped with that. By pulling out the big guns, so to speak." Riventon says. "Wary, concerned, there are adjectives I could buy. But angry? I helped you not have a space ship crash into Tokyo, then helped you paste the big evil jerk, then went to get a smoothie. If that makes you angry, I don't want to know what emotions you have when I do things that you actually beleive are against your personal agenda?"
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Abruptly, Mamoru looks so tired. "And you making arguments like that is-- I knew you would. I knew you would because you can't ever admit--"
He shakes his head and lets his hands drop, looking at the palace again-- then all the way up to the castle at the top of the tallest crystal. He wonders what that building was, preserved like this.
"I feel betrayed," he says simply. "You had all the warning about that power in the world, unlike my Shitennou, who didn't think they were betraying me until I was dead. But that? Yeah, that's just a feeling, that's just my problem. But this? You wouldn't have done this back when I still worked with you. And I can't help noticing that you're very practiced at using it, too, almost like you've spent a year studying it, making sure I'd never be around when you used it. You kept it from me because you knew I'd be angry. I hate secrets."
His hands get jammed in his pockets again; he doesn't want to gesticulate. His voice is still calm, explanatory. He looks at Riventon again, and his expression changes a little, into one that's more sad and frustrated than angry. "I know you can't help it, I know you need help and won't accept it. I know how it works on your feelings, on your mind. And I'm sorry, I'm sorry that blows so much, and I'm angry on your behalf for it, but that's not the point-- the point is that if you've lost yourself to this enough to use her things, I can't trust you to stay your hand against my family. I'm going to tell Usagi who you are."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Riventon is actually incredibly calm, for most of Mamoru's talk. It's the last part - the part where he proclaims his one-sided intent to break an ongoing agreement - that actually has Riventon rise, rather quickly, to his feet. While he mostly holds it in, splotches of Dark Energy collect on the outside of the smoothie cup where his gauntleted fingers touch it, burning away in the purified air of Crystal Tokyo in small little wisps. He doesn't even talk until that stops, until he gets some sort of control over hismelf. He's in henshin, in a foreign world, and maybe the only Dark Energy user walking the planet. He can't afford to start a fight, and he's intelligent enough, in the moment, to know this. Plus, he doesn't really want to attack Mamoru - or at least not all of him does.
"Where... do I even begin." he says, sighing. Letting some of the energy out with the sigh, centering himself. "Several... key differences... that maybe you're missing in your anger." he says. Riventon knows a thing or two about anger, right now, but he's burying it. He'll blast something out of the city limits after. "One: Metallia is dead. Dead as Death Phantom. This somewhat obviously is going to be a damper on the level of control she can exert. And I would hope this is... slightly self evident by the fact that Beryl tried to burn the planet with her power, and I worked to save it with mine?" Riventon offers.
"Two, I wasn't hiding it from you, there was just never a good time to bring it up. Sorry you're busy with being dad to your alt-daughter, having New Moon snog you, having the most chaotic extravagant wedding on the MOON (with the best best man, I might add), for me to be like 'hey I want to talk to you about this thing that you need to be in a stable emotional state to process." Riventon continues, holding up a second gauntleted finger. "Doesn't mean I intended to keep it from you forever."
"Three... do you even understand how close you were to NOT having the power to accomplish the goal of that fight we JUST walked away from? I don't think the citizens of this world would be better off if we threw everything we had at it and failed to solve the problem. My power isn't surplus to requirements. I wasn't showing off' I was helping you save two dimensions." he says.
"I haven't lost myself, I'm the same me I'm always been. But maybe you see it that way because you're the one going through all the changes. You're the one finding these destined loyal bodyguards, you're the one discovering a whole past life where apparently you were KING OF EARTH, you're the one leaving Obsidian, you're the one having a wedding on the gods-damned moon, and you're the one standing in an alternate universe where you're a frickin' KING OF WHAT'S LEFT OF EARTH." Riventon snaps. Some of that may be pent up.
"And then on the other hand there's me. I'm still an orphan with no family, I'm still clawing and scraping for everything I have, I'm still turning my mind towards every advantage to squeeze every last drop of ability I can because nobody has come out of my past life and dumped a bunch of cool free stuff on me." he growls. "IO built my device, I learned my magic, I created advantages where I had none but my mind!"
"And I'm still using my powers to protect people, I'm still undermining the dangerous bozos at Obsidian, I'm still risking my life every fucking day by trying to play my own game on their board. But the difference is NOW, every day I feel like I'm doing it a little more ALONE."
"And now you're gonna betray my trust? Because of a specific weapon in my armory I pulled out? You can't trust me to stay my hand against YOUR FAMILY?!" Riventon yells and, in lieu of actually attacking anyone, just throws the smoothie to the ground and stomps on it.
"I AM YOUR FAMILY, GODS DAMNIT."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
He weathers it. Mamoru doesn't know how long the rant's going to take, and he doesn't know if it's going to swerve into defending terrible things like the last time they had a big disagreement, but he doesn't try to interrupt. He just crosses his arms and stands there listening. At the yell, the last sentence, Mamoru flinches back.
"Yeah and right now we're having a family argument," Mamoru says, unmoved. "If Chibiusa-chan disagrees with you, what if you misjudged your strength? You know my identity, you know Serenity's, you know Chibiusa's, you know Kazuo's. They don't know yours. You can come with us, Riv. But you don't want to. You'd rather wait a year or two for all of this to stop being possible, wait a year or two for me to stop being what I am. You'd rather let me Fade than help us stop it and come with us into a bright future that's not--"
Mamoru turns and finally yells, "MADE OF BERYL'S THINGS."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
"Oh right, the Fade." Riventon says, sweeping his hands through the air. "Yeah I guess it'd be hard to end up somehow King of Tokyo or whatever if the Fade went and stole all of your memories and awareness of magic." he says, shaking his head.
"Gee, if only there was someone who had RISKED HIS LIFE to secure something Obsidian wanted that could be the key to keeping your memories intact? BUT I WONDER, WHO COULD THAT POSSIBLY BE." he says, faking shock. "Who would do such a daring and noble thing. Certainly not Riventon, not Takashi Agera, because he used a gem Beryl once used so nothing he does is ever good it's somehow bad even when he helps SAVE EVERYONE."
There are now occasional lines of Dark Energy, thick like oil, leaking down his arm. "Who's device was Chibiusa protected by? Oh yeah, I built that. You don't even have a full accounting of all of the things I have done for you, of all of the things I continue to do - or at least did till now."
"You know... are you familiar with the term 'put to the sword'?" Riventon asks, a seeming non-sequitor. "You know. A term for killing scores of people, generally as part of war, with swords? Usually when you 'put a town to the sword' or 'put the prisoners to the sword'. This will apparently come as a grand shock to you - but do you know that swords have done a lot of evil? Killed a lot of people? I'd wager swords have killed a lot more people than they have saved. Been used for tyranny more than to protect against it. But you're just fine using one of those yourself. Just fine with most of your bodyguard core using swords. Were any of those swords perhaps drawn during the invasion of the Moon Kingdom, during the fall of the Silver Millenium? They were used for terrible things there."
"But they're not MY things so it's okay. They're Nephrite and Kunzite and Zoisite and Jadeite's birthrights so they are good, they can be used again for other means but MY birthright is toxic and bad and vile. And when I use something that was used for evil there's no way it can do good?"
"Tch." Riventon turns from him and looks out at the landscape of Crystal Tokyo. "Is this the world you want. Is this the future you want? Planet hanging on by a thread catastrophe after catastrophe? I mean, I read the data. The history."
"Or maybe you like it because you're King. Because everyone is dependent on you - well, you and your wife. Or maybe... what you really like is that this is a world without a Dusk Zone. Without ME. Is that why you've come here to turn your back on me? Maybe you're going to leave me here so I can waste away without access to the Dusk Zone. Then I guess it doesn't matter what Usagi knows, does it."
"I kept your secrets from Obsidian. Over and over. I put my neck on the line. And now you doubt, what, my judgement? I guess now I'm starting to doubt it too... cause I judged you to be someone who wouldn't abandon me."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Mamoru snap-points at Riventon at the whole end, then as he's talking, waves his hand as if waving the gesture away. "No, buddy, you trusted that I would abandon you when I faded. You told me-- you TOLD me-- that I should just treat it like clocking out. But now you know exactly how much of me is magic. You know what would be left would be a hollow shell that would have to build himself all over again. You know how much my memory has already been fucked with, how much I know that when I woke up in that hospital a year before you met me I didn't even know my own name. Have you ever sat there and listened to someone call you an unfamiliar name, then be told that it's yours? That was where it started. But you don't care about that! As long as I'm physically intact, it doesn't matter if my whole mind is there, does it? You know who else thought that way? Riventon, we both fucking worked for her and now you are using her stuff that SHE MADE out of HER ENERGY to the point that it still feels like her."
Mamoru's arms cross again, tighter, his shoulders hunching and his face scowling. He has no dark energy. His energy isn't bleeding everywhere, even though once upon a time it did, once upon a time he had to keep it back like Riventon is keeping it back, and he almost lost it at Koji, who wasn't in henshin either.
He takes a breath. He reaches up to pinch the bridge of his nose. "And listen, you're literally going into a paranoid spiral over the fact that I want to tell my wife, my child, and my boyfriend -- all of whose identities you know, and all of whom you can consider family if you still think of me as such-- and you are playing with Beryl's toys, Riventon! You didn't MAKE it, you stole Beryl's handiwork that I *don't* trust and plugged it into the stuff that you made which I would trust if you hadn't put Beryl's shit in it!"
He doesn't even pause now, now he starts pacing on the rooftop. "And you know what's funny? Those are their swords of office. They weren't using them by the time they left. Venus and I are the only ones who have swords that were used on the Moon, and they were both only used to actively fight against the woman and her demon whose toys you are using."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
"Tch. What possible use would I have for your body sans your mind and memories, other than see if it manages to constantly get itself into inordinate amounts of danger on its own without the current you, for raw scientific curiosity?" Riventon asks. "Do you understand that the whole reason you fading had any appeal to me as an outcome was because you're such a magnet for danger that I pretty much need a whole extra one of me to keep you safe?" He shakes his head. "Hell, I don't even know if I meant it when I said it, alright?" he adds.
"All I know is that at times... I find you to be.... intensely frustrating." he adds, as though this is not a charge that could be leveled at him in reverse. "To try to keep safe, to try to keep from being mad at me for doing what somebody has to do. And apparently only I can do, because everyone else loses their mind and... I don't know, eats the sun or something!"
"It's a rock, man. It's a gem. A well shaped one thast's really good at manipulating energy but... It reads like her energy because she USED it. The woman spoke Japanese, too, and if you heard a woman making the universe's most thinly disguised advances through a wall in Japanese it might sound kinda like Beryl, but that doesn't mean it is her. I mean. I had other people work on this with me. An expert in gem magic for one thing. An expert in off-world magic for another. And then it's filtered through my device. Which has safety features." Which he may or may not have turned off in the apex.
"Yeah, I've heard people call me names that aren't mine. When I dream and wake up in the Dusk Zone. Different kinda stuff though. At least you keep getting more memories and more story and more connections." Riventon adds. "Meanwhile I think we know all there is to know about me, and all I can do is write the rest of the story. I don't seem to have some big renincarnation cycle thing. Hell, I'm not even here." he says, gesturing to Crystal Tokyo. "as far as we know."
"I'm going into a paranoid spiral because you keep prioritizing them over me. I'm going into a spiral because if we start telling the whole world everyone's identities because we're uncomfortable the whole of Tokyo's gonna get a lot less safe for a lot of people. You're opening a pandora's box like this."
"You want me to throw it away, destroy it, send it on a one way trip to a black hole? One, that's ridiculous because it's a damned focus for energy, not a malevolent soul jar. Two, I'll *still do it* if it'll make you happy." Riventon says. Of course there's a pause. And a finish of that thought. "Soon as I find or develop somethin' as good or better. Because Obsidian is still doing stupid stuff. Joker's still being a creepshow. The Dark Witch is here now, and you don't even know about her yet, but I nearly solved a lot of your problems on accident by putting her through a wall or twenty..." Riventon adds. "You can't just wave off a weapon of value in war cause you don't like the last gal who used it. I hated Beryl too and the world's better off with her gone. That doesn't mean the world can't also be better off with some of that power in my hand. You can't throw the magic power baby out with the creepy lady bathwater."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"She made gems, Riv, who do you think taught me to construct something out of dark energy? I didn't have the talent or whatever, so mine didn't stay, but she put her power in things that way. If it's anything like Hinoiri-chan's fake silver crystals, though, we should be able to purify it and it would get rid of her taint, and then you can refill it with your own dark energy," suggests Mamoru, stilling, looking back at Riventon. "And use it until you make your own better one. Honestly I don't know why you can't just make a better one already, you have to know more about dark energy than she did at this point, right?"
He shakes his head, though. "I still haven't told Sailor Moon, even though the invitation was open from her to trade identities. It might still be. But this has nothing to do with that, brother."
The prince lets his hands fall. "Because the point that you do have family, and you know their identities, and they don't know yours, still stands. You're making the relationship unequal, though. You're keeping them from knowing you, and trusting you, the way I've trusted you. You could be a bigger part of that family. You could just join us. Let them in... stop being the orphan alone in the dark when you don't have to be."
Finally, he looks back out at the city. "You know I'd stand between you and all of Crystal Tokyo to get you home, don't you?"
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Riventon pauses for a moment and works to slowly digest some of what Mamoru is saying. And, on top of that, keep his energy ,his self under control. Mamoru can probably figure out that he's putting the effort towards it, too. There's a lot of telltale signs that Riventon is working hard to control himself. Because he's angry about some things, and confused about others (and confusion probably leads him to more anger).
"Look, right now, here? I can't drop my henshin. So I'm being as calm and as collected as I possibly can. But what family do you mean? Just Usagi? Just Chibiusa? Because the rest of your family know who I am, right? And have been able to keep that under their hats. Not that anyone but you wears hats, it's a metaphor."
"And I don't think you can promise me running sparkle energy through the crystal won't comprimise what I'm actually using it for, which is being an incredibly effective focus for Dark Energy." Riventon says, sort of switching thoughts mid-sentence. He is still holding himself together. "There are all sorts of things that I understand but I can't create duplicates of hanging around on Earth. You give me the parts and I can make a device; I showed that with Luminous Titan. But the system to create all of the parts, I haven't been able to duplicate here at all. I've got the finished product of a process I am still working out. The crystal that you're uspet about - same way. I understand what I'm doing or I wouldn't be able to interface it with my gauntlet. I don't understand the process of production. For all I know right now, Beryl created it out of a mixture of unrequited desire for you, a sun demon's gift, and a worn pencil skirt, and I'm never gonna be able to emulate the first of those."
"Or maybe she got it right from Metallia and the process to create the thing died in the time before time?" he says, shrugging. "Honestly one day I'll probably be able to make something better via a totally different system... but that doesn't help me fight Obsidian's Directors now, and that's kind of a very present need. If they find out all of the help I've given you and all of the things I'm doing to shake up their plans I'm not just gonna be a little tossed around."
Then Riventon turns to address Mamoru's last comment. "I would like to know that you did, but since all of Crystal Tokyto includes all of those past-life friends and lovers of yours, and a future-life daughter, I'm not really sure you would. I think you'd probably regret having to do it, it'd probably eat you up inside? But I don't see you standing against them for me, honestly. Not if you couldn't broker a peace or something. If it came down to one or the other? I think you might stay your hand towards me. I don't think you'd raise it to them." Riventon says, solemnly.
"Good news is, I don't actually see it coming to that. I don't think most people would want to leave me out of their sight anyways."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"To get you home? To get you home. From here," Mamoru repeats slowly, turning to look at Riventon, "If they came after you here, I would raise my sword as a warning, I would shield you with my body, I would blow up the ground beneath their feet, and if they still came for you I guess we'd go down together, wouldn't we. I can show you, if you want."
He holds his hand out, just as willing to go swimming in the sensation of Dark Energy for Takashi as for New Moon and Wicked Lady.
"And no. Usagi, Chibiusa, and Kazuo. Kazuo doesn't know who you are, Riv, he was never in Obsidian, he just always belonged with us. He's also the *leader* of the Shitennou and they haven't told him. He just knows I value you highly enough for me to have let you have a Rainbow Crystal rather than see you get eaten by Beryl."
He hasn't been smiling, but there's a little one now, affectionate and frustrated and sad. "Your arguments about Beryl's crystal don't hold water. It still feels like her. That's enough. And that's why I might have to stand between you and Crystal Tokyo. I'm not the only one that felt that energy. And this may be a thousand years in someone else's future, but they still know who she was. And they killed her here without help."
He looks back to Riventon. "Serenity's-- *my* Serenity's worried the future Senshi would pop you like a grape. Letting the Queen purify it of Beryl's taint would be enough of a show of good will to keep them off you without me having to intercede. And if it destroys it, then that means you were using something that is part of her, and I'm afraid that no, no one would agree that her power in your hands is any better than her power in her hands. Because it's her power. And besides, I'm already expecting you to go find another Nemesis and have that in your back pocket; what do you need her power, specifically, for?"
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Riventon looks at Mamoru for a moment. He's looking at his face, judging his reactions and expressions as much as his words and his tone.
"Do you know who lives in the dorm next door to mine, Mamoru?" he asks, after a moment. "An Enforcer for some offworld police agency who tried to kill me when we first fought. And recently again, though this time he had to have a whole crew save him. You think I want to try to deal with him knocking on my door after what you guys did that prevents me from accessing most of my abilities on-campus?"
Riventon looks down and Mamoru's hand. "I don't want you to get the wasps." he says, simply. "Nobody handles this stuff the way I do, and it never agreed with you." he says, by way of explaining when he doesn't grasp it. "But look. I didn't ask to know who Kazuo was. And I didn't ask to know who any of the rest of them are. I grew up with you. I worked with them. You all left me. If I had known it would go like this the only one they would have ever known is Riventon. Hinoiri, too. But I kept secrets for you. I helped you out, in ways you know and ways you don't know."
It seems like Riventon is starting to lose the hard-fought battle with his negative emotions... his words become sharper, his tone angrier, and the occasional demonstration of some kind of Dark Energy near him continues."But if it was just Beryl's power - and you'd come to me like an equal instead of treating me like a child and giving ulimtatums and telling me what you're going to do with and agreement I've kept for years - maybe I'd be more amenable. But this is the same way people act about everything else. One day it's Beryl's wavelengths, the next it's Gaitos. Or the scroll of Ka. Or Etherian Tech. None of you seem to be able to fathom for an inkling of a moment that I know what I'm doing. I'm a five-star gourmet chef working in the kitchen here and you're coming up to smack my hand away from the stove like you think I'm a child reaching for a burner! Instead of talking to me about this like you are now you came in accusing me and telling me and you may have missed the memo but I am not one of your subjects. You do not get to tell me what magic is acceptable and what's not!" Riventon says, his voice slowly raising."What if I did let you take this and go get it purified, huh? What about the next time? The next time I develop something or integrate something that upsets somebody. What if the yellow mermaid gets all bent out of fish-shape over what's in my other hand, are you gonna try and make me get that purified by her queen too?" he asks.
"And what makes you think they wouldn't be the ones being popped like grapes, huh? Do you think you have EVER seen me fight at my full capability? Has your opinion of me dropped so low? You think I'm a peasant you can just order around?" He demands, switching momentarily to a over-hammy snooty accent.
"'excuse me sir but His Majesty believes you should know he is displeased with your source of magic and therefore you must cease using it forthwith'". He says, pausing to look firmly at him. "I'm not just anyone, Mamoru. I'm Riventon. I'm Takashi Agera. I'm special and you used to know that at least half as much as I did. You want me to go through the arduous time-consuming process of disconnecting this from my device delicately so I can hand it over for some extradimensional princess to fuck it up because you're scared of it or whatever? Fine. Say that. Ask me for a favor. Tell me about your worries. But don't you dare frame it like it's my problem, like I don't know what I'm doing, like you can't trust me around your family, and don't you dare threaten me with my exposure to get there."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Then do me a favor, Riventon, please, and give up the fucking crystal to be purified," Mamoru says, his voice as hard and thin a line as his mouth. "And when we get back home, we can fight about it where you can drop your henshin. Because yeah: you would flatten me if we were transformed. And I really want a fight with you. I really want to knock your teeth out with my fists for some of the things you just said to me, just like I knocked Mitsubishi's teeth out in third grade for what he said to you."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Riventon actually for a brief moment collects an aura of Dark Energy - a lot more visible and clear than before, like he's actually collecting energy to attack, or might be about to do so. Whether that reaction is conscious or unconscious is anybody's guess but there's at least no runic circle or triangle underneath him. Though a faded outline of one might be visible, for moments.
Truthfully there's only one tiny bit of awareness, perhaps heavily emphasized by Axion and even Night Hope in communications with him, that keeps him from opening up. There's no Dusk Zone here. He doesn't feel it. He can't step into it. He's without access to a tool that's always kept him safe. It pulls at him uneasily, emotionally, and also intellectually. If he commits to an attack he might end up fighting two generations of Senshi plus bonus mahou they brought over. And even if he believes he can kick their ass, the lack of a Dusk Zone to walk into removes a serious safety net that he's used to having. In case there's some sort of series of increasingly unlikely miracles and/or freak accidents and they somehow pull out the world's most unlikely win, of course.
f "I could flatten you easily if we're both out of henshin and it's probably overdue." Riventon says after a moment. "But the crystal, I can't just yank it out like it's a retro game cartridge. It's integrated in a complex way along with all of the safety breaks and features. Removing it without damaing my device would require access to tools I don't even have with me, to my workshop. And I can't exactly work on it while I'm in henshin either. So no matter what the outcome - you're going to have to wait anyways. Nobody is damaging my device. It's a full Artificial Intelligence."
<<CORRECT. IMPROPER MAINTNENACE COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO PERSONALITY CIRCUITS.>>
"Unless you and whoever else thinks they can rip it from my dead hands. And no matter how easy you think that might be for whoever, I promise you, you're underestimating me."
"So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to get another smoothie. Then I'm going to fly out and wait in or on the spacecraft we came in at, depending on what's accessible, until everyone's ready to go home. You can come get me then, if I haven't gotten back on my own already. Till then, you're going to keep your mouth shut about who I am at least until we finish that fight. The one where we get back to our world and I kick your ass out of henshin. Then we're going to discuss this and maybe you can go back home to your place with an ice pack in one hand and the damned crystal in the other, if it's so fucking important to you."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
And maybe-- just maybe-- Mamoru's first impulse still being his fists is reassuring.
"As if you could beat me out of henshin, you noodle," he scoffs. "But sure. Yeah. And maybe you can think about the fact that you find it necessary to hide your name from your sister-in-law. Douche."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Riventon makes a face. "I didn't tell any of my girlfriends about you." he says. Not that he told all of them about himself, either. "Make sure you figure out exactly whast the line is where you're comfortable with people knowing things because that street would go both ways. Douchecanoe." Riventon says before turning to give Mamoru an exasperated look and stepping off the side of the building before any sort of local security can show up.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Mamoru tugs down one eyelid and sticks out his tongue at Riventon's back, and... Riventon probably catches the edge of it when he turns back to look.
He definitely waits a minute to make sure Takashi's not listening (maybe). He lifts his hand again, this time to activate his communicator and say into it, << Please nobody chase him when he flies out, he's going out to the ship to sulk until we leave. >>
