A fragment of Aloisia's ship phases back into reality from its place in the time-space disruption, a section of the storage hold which holds mostly nothing of note, some rations, some supplies, a few Storage Device style weapons that are within them, but... within...
Is a highly encrypted box, locked to be only openable by Aloisia or Otto without an extreme effort on the opener's part. Within is the Crown of Succession.
In the distant past, it was used to test would-be successors to ensure they were strong enough to lead House Steiner to victory in war, as well as to settle any succession disputes. Unfortunately, an enemy faction got ahold of this already-dangerous relic and corrupted it, an attempt to destroy the holy relic Blauer Greif and turn its wielder against its own people. It had, luckily, been discovered before tragedy struck and sealed away deep within the forbidden vaults of House Steiner, to be nearly forgotten by time.
That is until it suddenly disappeared from the vault one day, stolen by Otto Bismark von Karstein-Steiner in preparations for his backup plan should things fall through with the coup. After all, his daughter, the one who he considered the true successor to House Steiner... was still kept secret, at least for now, and bringing her to light and having her complete the Succession Rite would prove her right to the crown.
Of course, due to the history of the crown being lost to time beyond it having been a 'corrupted relic of a barbaric past'... neither he, nor Aloisia know what they are about to unleash when they get their hands on the corrupt relic.
Once the relic is opened and recovered, Aloisia Stauss destroys the crown.
Which Activates the Rite of Succession.
The Indomitable Sister is consumed, destroyed in the ritual, its remains fashioned into a spear of darkness and destruction that corrupts its wielder and turns her on those she considers friends.
Meanwhile, the gemstones teleport away, planting themselves around Tokyo and turning themselves into realistic-looking statues of knights, known as the Ritter der Prufung (Knights of Trial), they activate when someone undergoing the Rite of Succession approaches, fighting until either all enemies are defeated, or it is detroyed.
A total of five need to be destroyed
But can they defeat those while trying to evade Aloisia, the Prinzessin des Nichts driven to madness by darkness? Or will she be consumed before they can end the rite and free her?
Does anyone even care enough to try?
Aloisia doubts it.
