Profile
Katsumi is a recent arrival from the United States after his father decided to return to Japan after a semi-successful professional baseball career. Katsumi had planned to follow in his father's footsteps and become a shortstop, but an injury suffered when he was young robbed him of his eye-sight. Even though he was blinded, his mother, a successful TV baker, took him under her wing and taught him to bake by touch. Shortly before he left the States, his mother presented him with a package of Japanese treats. Among them was the Irori Senbei that granted Katsumi the powers of the Culinary Guardian Shokupan. While they were powers that were not to be his originally, his mahou, Kobo, has agreed to work with him in his quest to unite with the other Guardians!

Recipe Card Magic
Through use of his peel and the magic granted to him as a Culinary Guardian, Katsumi can cast various Bakermancy spells. These spells are contained on specially made 'Recipe Cards' and are used by Katsumi throwing them in the air and bringing his bread peel in front of it to summon the spell. (Bold Indicates Known Spell)

Support Spells
- Bread Crumb Trail: This creates a trail of bread crumbs that Katsumi can see - leading him to any destination that he has visited before - usually home.
Defensive Spells
- Cookie Shards: You ever heard of Schrodenger's Cookie Tin? Is it cookies or sharp sewing utensils? In Katsumi's case, it's both - with this spell he summons dozens of sharp gingerbread cookie stars that deal light to medium damage to a target.
- Souffle Slide: Katsumi summons a massive (2 meter squared) souffle pancake covered in syrup and butter pats and drops it in an area effect on the ground, causing it to become slippery and unstable.
- Tiramisu Shieldwall: By summoning a large tiramisu that rises from the ground, Katsumi forms a 2 meter tall by 4 meter long shield wall that protects against attacks for thirty seconds - excellent for providing a brief respite in battle.
Summon Spells
- Monkey Bread: A monkey made from sticky buns, Monkey Bread's purpose is to launch at enemies and grasp a hold of them, sticking them in place and confusing them, giving the other Culinary Guardians a chance to attack! The monkey bread can also fit into small areas that the Culinary Guardians may not otherwise get into and report back to him what it found. It's duration is usually around 5 minutes or until destroyed/dismissed.
- Dragonpan au Chocolat: A large pastry dragon made from layers of dough, Dragonpan au Chocolat provides the Culinary Guardians a flight platform to use to get above enemies or to take flight to reach high places. The duration of the Dragon is usually 20 minutes and it is incapable of offensive attacks.
- Gingerbread Giant: Summoning an eight foot tall gingerbread man, it serves as defense for Shokupan, standing in the way of attacks that are sent his way. It is also capable of lifting and moving up to one ton of weight. It's duration is only around 3 minutes.
Affinity Spells
- As Katsumi develops a friendship/relationship, there is a chance he will be inspired to create a baking recipe with that person in mind. It will start off as a temporary recipe - something to be used in that moment that he is in Guardian mode - but as he spends more time around the person, it has a chance to become a recipe card! (At least five scenes minimum for temporary spell, twenty for recipe card).
- Affinity with Culinary Guardians is much faster, time can be halved, even faster if more than one Guardian is involved.
Kitchen God Mode
- When in Kitchen God Cooking mode, Shokupan's baking skills are put to more pleasant use in a large bakery style kitchen. Slipping on an apron, Shokupan mixes and rolls out the dough, watches it rise, puts it in pans and bakes his famous fresh bread! Once done, it's sliced, buttered and served! Food created during this cooking montage has the power to heal others, and purify those who have been corrupted as well as provide a filling meal. The only issue is getting the bad guys to consume it, so this power is best used once the enemy has been defeated or otherwise immobilized.
