Synopsis: Masato, Minako, Makoto, and Ami enjoy a lovely day at the beach. They guard against melanoma, enjoy refreshments, and discuss literature.
Cast of Characters: Ami Mizuno, Nephrite, Minako Aino, Makoto Kino

Ami Mizuno has posed:
It had been a long while coming.

The summer had worn on, hot and bothersome, for months now and it seemed to have absolutely no end in sight. With full schedules, there hadn't been much time for anything other than their course work and the overbearing violent sociopaths pressing down upon them from an alternate, broken future. To save themselves and the world from mistakes they hadn't even made yet. Fortunately, that was done now. That future had been repaired and they were home, finals were on the horizon, and the weather was still...

The skies were clear and crystalline blue, save the very occasional puffy white cloud hanging high to shine like spun silver.

In a dark-blue, one-piece bathing suit, Ami had only just stuck aa parasol into the sand to provide some shade. A towel laid out beneath and a book retreived from beneath her arm to set beside. She straightened, inhaled deeply, and turned to stare out at the glistening ocean.

"Masa-nii." Ami said, finally. "Would you set the cooler up in the shade there?"

Nephrite has posed:
Skin somewhat bronzed by Summer sun and wavy locks free about his shoulders, sunglasses topped Masato's head, he carried a large blue cooler along. In maroon and yellow trimmed boardshorts and barefoot against the warm sand, breathing in the comforting salt of the seaside, he also carried a look of content. A woven bracelet with a star charm on one wrist, and a strange scar or tattoo on his other inner forearm-- like bird feathers.

He hefted the large cooler heavily into the sandy spot with a grunt, wriggling it into place, and still crouching, opened it up. "There we go..." A little bit of digging jostled the cans about in ice. "Do you want the lemon or lime spritzer?"

Minako Aino has posed:
The beach! Long had it been calling to Minako. With the time free to finally relax she was making sure to actually take the time to do so. Hanging with friends, enjoying the fresh ocean breeze... It wasn't the cruise they'd talked about enjoying after all was said and done but it was still a suitable break.

Perhaps in an effort to match Ami she was also wearing a blue one-peice. At least it could be called a one-peice for all the fact that it had a side cut out revealing her ribs, and stomach. Around her waist a little sarong was tied to give a bit of cover over her legs and butt. Plus it was easier to sit on this way without *sand* getting places it shouldn't!

Sunglasses on, a floppy sun hat in place, she stands proudly surveying the expanse of beach they had staked a claim to as if she were a General surveying the land they had just won.

"Ah~ this is more like it! Summer, sun, sand, water! Skin! It's so freeing!"

Makoto Kino has posed:
"Just don't forget to put on sunscreen," Makoto laughs, still working some cream sunblock into her arm as she grins over at Minako. "Wouldn't want all that freedom to end in a sunburn.

She's in a sporty high-necked two-piece in bright lime green and black; once she's done, she stretches her arms up over her head and lets out a long, satisfied sigh. "Thank goodness we got all that stuff sorted out in time to actually enjoy the summer for a while," she says. "Does anyone else need this, before I put it up?" 'This' is the bottle of sunscreen, which she waggles vaguely in the air in demonstration.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
"Oh, yes please." Ami said to Makoto with a smile.

After all, as the daughter of an oncologist, melanoma would be rather an embarrassing thing to wind up with. Accepting the bottle, the blue senshi started the process of applying the protective cream to her exposed limbs, neck, and face.

"And lime, thank you." Ami glanced Masato's way next, before an agreeable nod followed.

Because she certainly agreed with both Minako and Makoto. "I can't begin to express how much I've been looking forward to time well spent that wasn't all study and preventing the end of the world. Or weddings. Or evil Jeeps."

Nephrite has posed:
The can was cracked and held out to Ami, and Masato's brow rose some. "Didn't prevent you from bringing a book to the beach, though." He leaned to note it, peering some. "Is that still the one about the spaniard who turns into a horse?"

He does stand though, stretching out some and rolling an arm. "You know the price of tickets to cruiseliners these days is astronomical... I could hire a private yacht for less. I still might."

Minako Aino has posed:
"I mean. We did have some time on a ship it just wasn't an Earth or water type ship." Minako gestures at the ocean with a sweep of her hand. "It's still good to get out though! Maybe we can at least rent some of those big wheeled bike things that float on the water and we can paddle around." Of course there were probably jetskis, too, but that was the first thing which had caught her eye. Giant orange 'tires' that were on the trike out in the water.

Finally peeling her gaze away from the water she turns back toward her friends with a grin. "I could use some sunscreen too. Oh! Maybe there's some cute boys who could offer to rub it in for me~" she croons as a quick back-and-forth glance is given to predatorially regard the beach. Sadly, the spot they'd chosen was in short supply of guys that weren't already with partners, or just older in general. Mina juts her lower lip out with a quiet, "Poo."

"Ah, well. You said there's lemon too?"

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto obligingly brings the sunscreen over for Ami. "If she hadn't brought a book, we'd be checking to make sure she doesn't have a fever," she quips, absently adjusting the fit of her own woven bracelet on her wrist as she looks toward Masato with a smile.

"Honestly, this is plenty for me, cruise or no cruise." Turning in place, she gestures expansively out toward the waves. "The weather is perfect, the breeze feels great, and for once there's nothing hanging over our heads! ...Except homework, I guess, but I'm not thinking about that right now."

Ami Mizuno has posed:
With the sunscreen passed on along to Minako now and the opened spritzer already rising toward her lips, Ami's face turned a very obvious shade of pink. Sapphirine eyes snapped to Masato, brows knit sharply, and the senshi flustered through several unintelligble syllables before she finally managed to get anything else out.

"It is a very well written piece of historica fiction and I enjoy Gustavo's dedication."

Then, a few seconds later, she realised what she'd just said and managed to look mortified for a moment. There was a little rush of movement, careful not to spill her as-yet-unappreciated drink, that attempted to hide the book beneath her laid out towel. Eventually, Ami did manage a sip.

"Thank you for the refreshment, Masa-nii." There was the appreciation, if paired off imperiously raised eyebrows, before her attention was diverted to Minako again. "I could make sure you get your back, if you'd like?"

Nephrite has posed:
Masato grinned at Ami with a smug, if not slightly devious kind of smile-- one that knew. She was absolutely reading romance novellas at the beach, caught red handed.

"No homework, and no worries." He transfered his smile to Makoto, neatly enough. "And what a gorgeous view..." Not that he was looking at the ocean when he said that.

He took up another can, lemon now, and with a short whistle of warning, tossed it towards Minako. It was an underhand throw, the kind that was stoppered by his other hand tapping forearm, so that the momentum of the can continued. "I'm all the cute boy this beach can handle, anyway."

Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino takes the offered sunscreen to work a bit into her hands so she can slather it over her arms. She doesn't get too far into it when Ami offers to get her back. "Would you? Ami-chan you're a lifesaver!" Sure, Ami wasn't a cute boy, but she was a cute girl! And her friend.

The talk of the romance novel earns a glance to the newly hidden book as she moves to plop down on the ground in front of Ami with a wicked little grin. "Ami-chan! Romance novels? I'm so proud! You're *relaxing*!"

Even as she gushes about this the drink comes her way. Without really thinking of it her hand shoots up to grab it easily. It wasn't a volleyball by any stretch of the imagination after all. Easily caught!

Her mouth opens to respond to his remark though only for a little choked noise to come out as her gaze flits over to Makoto. Wisely she opts not to respond in kind. "Nope, not falling for it, Masato."

Makoto Kino has posed:
Predictably, Makoto blushes a little, though her good humor doesn't falter even when Minako glances her way. "I think I can survive you asking my boyfriend to help you with your sunscreen," she informs Minako in a tone of exaggerated magnanimity. "But it looks like Ami-chan already has it under control."

If she looks just a little bit smug when she smiles back at Masato, the lingering blush counteracts it.

"I kind of want to ask you to tell me about the story sometime later on, Ami-chan," she adds after a moment. "Doesn't have to be now..." after all, the last thing Mako wants to do is cause Ami any further embarrassment. Her curiosity is completely genuine. "It sounds like an interesting story, though." And Mako does love romance novels.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
A little divut is dug out in the sand, just enough to provide a convenient drink-holder in a manner that won't threaten to spill it. With her hands freed, and shuffled back a little on her towel, the space in front of her is patted at in invitation to Minako. For her own part, Ami is still incredibly red about the face.

Ever since Minako had caught her at lunch that time, the blue senshi's literary interests felt like they were on display for all. Despite the embarrassment, however, Ami still managed to glance over to Makoto.

"He turns into a horse to be closer to her." Ami said with a fairly small voice. "It's the only way they can be together, because he's Catholic and she's Islamic--"

A squeak, even redder, and Ami set determinedly to the task of defending Minako's back from the harsh radiation of the sun.

Nephrite has posed:
Masato hums, making a valiant effort not to tease too much or laugh audibly. "Ah, yes, the age old question," Amusement is there at the corner of his voice when he steps closer behind Makoto, and leans in to ask, "Would you still love me, if I were a horse?"

His brows arch high, and his smirk is broad. A pecked shoulder follows before he holds up a can for Makoto.

Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino clucks her tongue at Makoto with amusement. "I wouldn't ask him to anyway. He'd probably literally slap it on me," she points out even as she's just imagining him whalloping her with those big hands. That or do something equally awful like tickle her. She just holds obediently still for Ami with a quiet, "Thank you, Ami-chan."

"He probably could pull off being a Clydesdale to be honest."

Makoto Kino has posed:
"Oh, a forbidden love... sounds dramatic!" Makoto will definitely be asking Ami more about the book at another time, when her friend is less flustered about it.

For now, she laughs in startled delight as Masato moves up behind her with a cold drink and a tongue-in-cheek question she probably should have seen coming. "I like horses," she replies airily, accepting the drink with an appreciative inclination of her head and a fresh blush staining her cheeks. "Thank you. They're beautiful and majestic animals."

Ami Mizuno has posed:
While Ami continued to work the cream into Minako's back with her left hand, her right had been at work in the sand beside her. She'd dug down a little way, past the loose and light surface, down to where the remnants of the high tide lay. Where it got a little bit cold and damp. It was this that was formed into a little ball and tossed, quite uncharacteristically, for Masato's head.

And Ami, it turned out, had quite an accurate hand.

"You're very brave to be saying these things to me right next the ocean, Masa-nii." Ami observed with just a smidgen of menace. "But, I won't be sharing book recommendations with you again after this."

Well, it wasn't terribly menacing really. It was Ami and she really didn't have a spiteful bone in her body.

She patted lightly at Minako's back. "There you go."

Nephrite has posed:
At Minako's bad faith in him, Masato pulls a considerate face and nods to concede-- she is right, he probably would slap it on. She's probably right about the Clydesdale thing, too, really. He elects to take it as a compliment, especially in light of Makoto's evident fondness for them.

He glanced at Ami just in time to turn up a hand and shoulder at the sand, which scattered against his flinching fairly harmlessly. "Don't be like that, Ami-chan? You've read more Western romances than me, that's not fair--"

Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino stretches her arms out in front of her as soon as Ami clears her for being Sun-Okay! With a little 'hyuuup' of breath she hops back to her feet taking care not to accidentally kick sand back at her friend in the process.

Instead she grins at the sand attack with a laugh. "She really is in her element you know! Though if it's romance novel recommendations you want, that's *my* element!" was it? was it really? Probably not.

"Er. Though most of the ones I read are manga. The boys are so cute in them! And the girls too! Everyone's so cute!" She gushes a moment before recalling her drink finally which she cracks open. A long gulp is taken, and she lets out a satisfied sigh.

"I'm going to check out the boardwalk shops some. Maybe they have some cute souveniers."

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto makes a startled noise, quickly turning so that any scattering sand from Ami's projectile doesn't get into her freshly-opened drink. "I hope I can still get recommendations from the both of you," she puts in, smiling. "If we're lucky, there might even be some time for reading while we're on summer break before another enemy falls out of the sky."

As soon as she's said it she makes a face and quickly shakes her head, setting her ponytail swinging. "Never mind, don't let me jinx us! We are going to have a nice, fun, peaceful break. And... I think I'm gonna go for a swim."

She sneaks a quick kiss to Masato's cheek as she moves to put her drink in a safe spot under Ami's parasol.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami's eyes narrowed at Masato and she pursed her lips thoughtfully. Eventually, she relented. But, only because it was Masato and Makoto was right there.

"Alright, but you're on thin ice, Masa-nii." The blue senshi said slowly.

Nephrite has posed:
Masato gave Ami a look. He was exaggerated and penitent as he clapped his hands together with a half hearted bowing, side-stepping after Makoto.

But his grin broke through by the time he turned to jog after the other Senshi.
