Cast of Characters: Mamoru Chiba, Hinoiri Kirara

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
It's late! Koji is out anyway, probably doing ninja patrol things, and Mamoru's in the process of bundling up dusty laundry. Very dusty. It looks like he had a baking accident kind of dusty.

The window's open but the screen's shut, keeping bugs out but letting the chilly autumn breeze freshen the air in the dorm room, and letting the night sounds in.

The prince is looking especially regal in bare feet, pajama pants, and a laundry day t-shirt, but at least his glasses are clean and he doesn't have bedhead, not having slept yet.

There is absolutely instrumental metal coming from his phone, slightly tinny since the volume's down and the speaker's small.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Equivalence had gotten a lift from Catra back to the school, at least. She didn't really feel good, but she did feel better than she would have if she'd had to haul her flank all the way home. She was ragged, worn, a bit charred and half of her mask was burned off.

And that meant one person. She'd stopped for a minute to grab a soda before leaving the trashed mall, now that she was there she took a drink of it... then tossed a handful of it into her hair. It was magic hair, anyway. So it'd be fine. At least it had gone gray again.

So it wasn't long until Mamoru would hear a light 'Ratatattat' on his window and, when he looked, he'd see someone dangling against it, one hand holding the top of the frame, one boot on the bottom. And...

"Hey, your highness. Still doing that 'healing hand' to all who need it? Cause I had a pretty rough one tonight."

Well, she certainly looked like it.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Mamoru looks up at the tapping, yes, and swiftly yanks the tie on his laundry bundle shut before coming over to open the screen, faintly nonplussed. "Do I know you?" he asks, squinting a little but getting out of her way as she comes in.

Then he winces, seeing the burns and abrasions. "Here, if you can sit down," he says, pulling out his desk chair, "then do. Also, I hope your outfit regenerates when you transform. Presuming you're not just a ninja who knows who I am. What happened? ...and why is your hair sticking up like that? It's not dried blood, is it?"

Regardless of whether she sits, Mamoru does, on the edge of his bed, and he holds a hand out.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Equivalence groaned and climbed in once the window was opened and then limped inside. Luckily, no cuts. But yeah, getting energy blasted through a mall window... hurt. "Vending machine youma can suck," she said, grumbling. "... And it's soda. I think it's orange, judging by the taste in my mouth, but who really can say?" She sat down heavily, before nodding.

"Vaguely. Equivalence, I'm new here, but I've heard a lot about you. I was there with the whole... Gretchen thing?"

"... Also, I ran into Hematite once or twice, but you wouldn't remember me from that."

At least, not as Equivalence.

"... But no, I'm not a ninja. And I really hope it regenerates, I suck at sewing."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"You really have heard a lot about me," Mamoru says wryly at the Hematite comment, taking the girl's hand. "And that's right, you were at the Gretchen thing--"

The pain is always the first to go, and the healing starts at the same time as that connection to earth's long history and the life it holds, that sense of belonging, of home and refuge and peace.

And Mamoru's frowning a little as he watches the visible injuries heal with his eyes, and the bruises heal with his other sense. "You're familiar besides that, though. I've healed you before." A beat. "Do you need a washcloth or something for your hair? I'm almost done."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Equivalence regained that dazed, slightly... confused expression, peaceful. Calm.

Sora...

Except, this time, as it went on, she just looked... saddened. The longer it went. And were there... tears in her eyes? No, likely just the mask. Or all the burns. Yeah, it was that. She blinked a few times, taking a slow, deep breath. Trying to clear her senses.

... She missed home.

"... You have healed me before," Equivalence mumbled. "I... wasn't... I didn't... I wasn't... sparkling then, though. Just... do me a favor. Don't ask questions. For both our sakes. The less you know, the safer you'll be. And no, I'm fine. Unless you're worried about getting soda on your furniture. I'm... well... I'm going to go hit the showers after this. But I figured hitting you up before I cleaned up would be wiser. Easier to clean up, at least."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Definitely easier to clean up. And it's okay, the only reason I'd try to find out your identity would be if you came after me or mine-- but it sounds like you sparkle now, so you can hang out in the Vast Mystery category," Mamoru says, not mentioning the sad look or the tears. She's been healed by him before -- she knew what she was signing up for.

After less than a minute more, he's already letting go, and there's no seeping back in of that pain. It was comparatively little damage, after all. "And my furniture's definitely seen worse. But listen: if you need help with something other than healing, I can get you in touch with the big guns. If you'd rather not ask them yourself."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Equivalence gave a light snort. "Go after you and yours? I can't imagine why I'd do that. You heal and your wife seems pretty nice." Once the healing was done, she groaned and stood up, stretching.

"I... appreciate the offer. But I usually prefer to work alone. I don't have a team, or a mascot, and... it's better that way. Nobody..." she trailed off for a moment before sighing. "This isn't me trying to avoid help that I need. This is me being realistic. If and when I need help? I know who to turn to. But in most situations?"

She poked her hair a bit, then sniffed it. Before sighing. "In this case, I mostly just need a shower. But when and if I need help, I know who to get in contact with."

... And she couldn't out Catra, either. Even for her own good. That was a line she couldn't cross.

She then started towards the window, before pausing. "Hey... um. Can you do me a favor? Not tell people about this? Believe it or not I'm... still figuring a lot of this out. Where I stand. How I stand. And I'd... like to not make anyone worry, if I can avoid it."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"My wife??" is Mamoru's takeaway. He laughs, standing up. "My fiancee! We're in high school, in case you forgot." Like having a fiancee in high school is much better. Really, Mamoru.

There's a long song and dance about how it's better for her to go it alone, even if she's totally claiming that's not what it is, and Mamoru lets it slide. It was a while before Hematite asked for help, and if this girl is ex-Obsidian, well-- he knows the kind of mindset it produces.

He puts his hands in his pajama pants pockets and rocks back on his heels, considering Equivalence's request. "I won't," he finally says, "unless something makes it my problem. Is that fair?"

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Equivalence gave a small shrug. "Right, wife to be. I can't exactly see anything tearing the two of you apart and if it's going to happen regardless, why quibble over technicalities?" Equivalence asked with a shrug. "But maybe I'm weird for thinking that."

"Thanks. And... I have no intention of making it anyone's problem. In the ideal world, nothing could. But, well... we don't exactly live in an ideal world. But I'll still do my best. So... thanks," Equivalence said with a small, gentle smile. She then leaped onto the rim of the window, balancing for a moment before pausing. "... I really hope ninjas aren't that common an occurance here. This school is weird enough as it is. Either way, though. Thanks, for all your help. I'll see you around. Or... I won't, I guess. Hopefully next time we meet it'll be with me less needing your help and more... you... needing my... help... it sounded... better in my head. See yah." She then leaped out the window!

Well, at least she didn't try to yeet him. Or yoink.
