Profile

Niji Dasshu is the girl with the mulitcolored hair who plays All Of The Sports. She's probably in a sports uniform right now. That hair's hard to miss, and it's the same girl in some sort of role on what seems like every team. The girl just loves sports, and loves competition. If she's not playing she's probably helping a teammate practice, because she loves helping other people compete, too! If she's not doing either of those, she's probably hanging out with her friends - Niji adores her friends and loves spending time with them (though she's probably still idly kicking a soccer ball at the time). But there's also a chance that maybe Niji is also Geode Girl Loyalty, the super-speedy friendship powered magical girl with the same hair colors, but with blue skin and wings, who loves to show evil just how hard someone who plays all of those sports can kick something other than a ball while moving at super-speed...

Background

Niji Dasshu hails from Aomori (both the city and prefecture), the northernmost part of the major island of Japan. She grew up with a loving father and mother who were supportive - maybe even a little too supportive - of all of her acts. If she wanted to play baseball, they would buy her all of the gear and be at every game. Soccer? Sure. Not doing well in school? No problem, they'd focus on her achievements in sports. It was... both endearing and a little suffocating. And Niji really did like sports - she liked competition. Challenge. Physical activity. And generally being awesome. And while she might not have been the best baseball player on the baseball team, or the best martial artist in the dojo, or the best volleyball player on the volleyball team, she was the best volleyball player on the baseball team, the best kendo practitioner on the vollyeball team, and the best baseball player in the kendo dojo. Niji never could pick just one thing, and stick with it. But she was happy, she enjoyed it. Even if she always felt like she was looking for her thing. Like there was something only she could do, something she'd be the best at, something the world needed her for. And in the meantime... she made friends. She really enjoyed team sports, because on a team, she could compete for more than just herself. She could show others how to do well. She could have backup and be backup. There was something in being the one to make a save for your team, score that game winning point, or just be there in defeat that made her heart sing. Whether on or off the field, she never got hostile to her teammates - even if they frustrated her a little bit, they were her teammates, and that meant something vital to her.

Niji didn't know it, but she found it one day, hiking in the woods around Aomori. Just running through the woods, enjoying life, laughing to nobody but herself. What she found was there, just... dangling from a high tree branch. She saw it, glittering in the light. She didn't know what it was... but it was up there, out of reach, in a challenging place. Like it was taunting her. Like it was a reward for someone who could get it. So of course, Niji did what she always did in reaction to challenges - she climbed up. She fell. She climbed again. She eventually made it up there and grabbed the little object. It was a shimmering gem, a geode, cut in half, on a necklace... the outer layers shone with the colors of the rainbow, and inside it was a beautiful blue. And if the light caught it just right, it looked like there was an image of a... claw? Maybe? Or a lightning bolt coming out of a cloud? Well, it was her reward, her trophy for the climb, for the challenge seen and met, so she grabbed it and put it around her neck. She liked it. It felt... awesome, in a way. Like her.

A week after she put the necklace on, Niji's family recieved a letter from a prestigious school in Tokyo itself, Radiant Heart Academy. Of course, it wasn't for Niji's... somewhat lacking academics... but she was invited to come and stay at the dorms, get a world class education, and equally... Radiant Heart Academy had teams for nearly every sport one could think of, and being in Tokyo, had a lot of competition in all of those sports. Plus, as a bonus, she'd be very far away from her parents, which meant that she'd get some time away from them. Not that she didn't love them, but just that they could be a little... much. So even though her parents were hesitant about it, Niji eventually won them over, and rode the train down to Tokyo to join Radiant Heart Academy. It wasn't too long after being there that she saw all of the other students with their special uniforms and hair and decided she couldn't not be noticed, too... and she looked at her geode. Drawing inspiration from the rainbow of colors on the outside rings of her geode, and her namesake, she dyed her hair not one color, but a set of them. Stripes of red, orange, yellow, purple, blue, and green. Even in a place like Radiant Heart Academy, Niji was going to stand out. And it was probably the only place in all of Japan she could get away with hair like this as a student... now she's looking to make new teammates, new friends... and little does she know but there's a whole new reason for her to compete coming soon.
