Profile

Cho Konishi is a small, somewhat unassuming girl with a somewhat BIG personality. Often playful, quirky, boisterous and playing pranks on everyone around her, though she tries to offer a hand to anyone who needs it. Guided by a tiny little fairy monkey named Wuwu, Cho protects her home as the magical girl Cure Wukong from the deadbeats, a faction desiring nothing more than to drain the motivation of all who live in the world and erase all their heroes from history. Fortunately, if there’s one thing Cho is motivated to do now, it’s ensure the deadbeats get taught a lesson to leave her world alone.

History

If you could change one thing, one small thing, what would you change?

I’d change everything.

Cho was not someone who others would have suspected would be drawn into this world. In fact, she was very, very gray. Calm, quiet, reserved. On the student council. Often having good grades. Her family would have said she was a good child, she never made a fuss. Obeyed her elders. Other students could often turn to her for help, even over burdening her with tasks that she rarely turned down. She had no real hobbies, seemingly no desires. Some would have even called her gifted. She was the perfect child in so many terrible, horrible ways.

She barely, if ever, smiled.

Certainly none would have suspected that she had a single small, tiny little wish. A wish she didn’t believe could happen. And, if not for a strange little monkey fairy, she would have accepted that her wish wasn’t possible. But when given the offer to change one thing about herself, one mistake, one error in her past, the answer was simple.

“I want to have been born a girl.”

A simple wish, in some ways. But one that had echoes that rippled out through her entire life. Through every facet of it. Not just that she wanted to be that. But how powerfully she desired it. The way someone who seemed so ‘gifted’ and yet ‘unmotivated’ desperately wanted this one thing…

And so, Cure Wukong was born. While remnants of who she was still exist, who she is now becomes a little more real with every deadbeat she defeats. More than that, the quiet, gray, hollow person she was fades away. While once she may have been neat and perfect, now she was wild and chaotic.

But most of all, she barely, if ever, frowned.

Once she became a precure, however, it wasn’t long before she was invited to the academy. While at first her parents were unsure it wasn’t hard for her to convince them. If there was one thing they weren’t used to, it was that their child, once so calm and quiet, had grown so fierce and emotional. Of course, now that she was trying to find herself she decided to test herself in brand new ways. In her old school she had been a member of the chess club, the math club and the science club. Now? She wanted to explode, to be reborn, to be wild.

So while she still managed to become a member of the student council, she also joined the stage magician club and the gymnastics club. The former of which she is absolutely terrible at, the latter she is quite talented at (likely due to her magic admittedly).

Personality

Cho used to be quiet, reserved, stoic and… well… she used to be depressed. Incredibly depressed. She wasn’t happy, but she didn’t know why. Something just always felt… wrong. It wasn’t until she was given the opportunity to fix it that it all came into focus. But before, she focused on trying to make other people happy, doing what other people said she would. Working herself to exhaustion in order to meet up to what others said she should do. It wasn’t that she had any motivation of her own, but she thought that, surely, if she just met the goals others said she should have, eventually she’d be happy.

Who she is now, versus then, isn’t entirely different. She still focuses a bit too much on making other people happy, taking on more than her fair share. But she also tries, really hard, to be more. That strange unhappiness she used to feel suffocated by is now gone and so she’s trying to be someone she wants to be, instead of who others tell her she should want to be.

In this case, she’s going the route of ‘loud’. She decided on trying to learn how to do stage magic, even though she is terrible at it, because it seemed like a good idea. Nobody could ignore someone who performed, right? On top of that, it actually is fun. Even if she sucks at it. She’s also experimenting with harmless pranks. Nothing dangerous or harmful, more akin to ‘open this container and BOOM! A toy pops out’ or woopie cushions. She’s also trying out gymnastics, primarily since… well… Okay, she just thinks the uniforms they get to wear are cute and she’d made worse decisions for less.

Wuwu, fortunately or unfortunately, often encourages her to go a liiiiiittle further than she should. She’s still learning the balance. She will, however, quickly fess up if she makes a mistake. Even if she does go too far, she will accept the consequences of her actions, even if she doesn’t like them. She also tends to be a bit snarky at times. Not suppressing her emotions has caused them to boil up a bit more than she realized they could and she will often say things without meaning to, which can also bite her in the butt.

For all of Cho’s faults, however, one thing she is is dependable. If she says she’ll do something, even if it becomes unreasonable, she’ll do it. Her word is her bond and she will go through hail and high water to ensure whatever she said she’d do, she’ll do.

She does, unfortunately, still hold herself to a very high standard that isn’t really… reachable. She’s never had anyone to show her how to be a ‘girl’, so she’s mostly cobbling it all together as best she can. Finding out who she is, what she is, who she wants to be. All while trying to balance school life, her duties as a member of the student council and fighting off the deadbeats.

Powers

Clones: By tugging out a hair, Cure Wukong can make a clone of herself that will fight besides her. However, all it takes is a simple hit and the clone will disappear. These don’t hit very hard and are instead more of a distraction.

Ruyi Jingu Bang: Cure Wukong’s magical staff. This staff is incredibly heavy if others try to carry it, making it borderline impossible for others to lift it. To her, it is light as a feather. It can grow or shrink itself as needed.

Seven times immortal: Obviously Cure Wukong isn’t immortal, but the legend does have an effect on her. In this case, she is incredibly durable, taking ‘one-seventh the damage from blows that should kill her, seven times’. In reality, it just means her greatest strength is that she can take a hit a lot better than most magical girls.

72 earthly transformations purification: Cure Wukong’s finisher, drawing on the five elements, she fuses it into a magical blast that envelops her target and restores their motivation, giving them the drive they need to face the day!

Scroll: Cho’s scroll that is slowly being filled. At its base, it allows her to activate a few of Cure Wukong’s abilities (disguising herself with the 72 earthly transformations, hair) primarily ala precure mcguffin ability. The big thing, however, is as she gets more stickers she will get things for HER story. In this case, becoming a woman. Dresses, earrings, makeup that teaches her how to apply it, etc.

Flexibility: Cho has become far more flexible thanks to Cure Wukong’s ability, this applies even in her human form. While it isn’t superhuman, it is something she didn’t used to be nearly as good at. It makes her very good at monkeying around.
